The self-reliance equipments are designed and made by seasoned vets in the industry which China lack the most ATM whilst TSMC have plenty.

TSMC is just a chip foundry. It needs consistent hard wares and soft wares outside supports. Otherwise it would be shut in several days. TSMC is not so important for China.

not really. What seasoned process engineers does ASML or Netherlands have when they don't have their own fab? what does a etching process engineer know about EUV light sources or precision wafer stage mechanical design?? only a passing familiarity at most, nothing at worst.

even a lithography process engineer doesn't know all the details about every part of the EUV equipment. their job isn't to know the details, it is to maximize output. if they have a maintenance problem that requires taking the machine apart, they call ASML field service engineers. messing around with the equipment is liable to void the warranty, and voiding warranty on $120 million USD equipment is unacceptable.
