Tahir ul Qadri demolished by Chief Justice at the Supreme Court Day 1

Dual nationals cannot interfere in internal politics, says SC

CORRECT! anyone clearly taking oath to protect & uphold the queen and her vision shouldnot and couldnot interfere in Pakistani Politics because either he will be sincere to Pakistan and break his oath to the queen or be sincere to the queen and go against Pakistani demands!

What about dual nationalist judges and lawyers? Are they not loyal towards Pakistani laws and constitution??

Dual nationals are serving in all ministries, most of them are posted at sensitive areas like of airports and communications ministries and various secretary level.

bureaucrats are 99.9% foreign national or they have bought it for their kids, 80% assembly members are foreign nationals.

How about President of Pakistan? who have reinstated Ifitkhar Chootary? Is he Pakistani?

What about Imran Khan? what is his nationality?

Still my question is why the law allows dual national in the judiciary?? Even senators has raised this question few months ago.

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan rejected the petition filed by Minhajul Quran International (MQI) chief Tahirul Qadri after hearing his initial arguments on Tuesday, reported Express News.

The court said that the petition was filed under a quo-warranto and does not fall under Article 184 of the Constitution. Maintaining that the Supreme Court cannot hear the petition, the bench requested Qadri to approach some other forum for his cause.

During the hearing, Qadri told the bench that he has used a Pakistani passport for visiting Pakistan and Canadian for going to Canada.

Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry remarked that Qadri is known as the “Sheikhul Islam” but has sworn his allegiance to Queen Elizabeth.

“The doors of the parliament are closed for you but your interference in domestic politics is questionable,” he added.

Justice Gulzar also pointed out that a person who has taken oath for loyalty to another country would not be permitted to influence Pakistan’s politics and to file a petition for reconstitution of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

Qadri submitted papers and a copy of his passport in the court to justify his right to file petition for ECP’s reconstitution.

Note: This is a developing story and will be updated accordingly

The article doesn't say its rejected, its only adjourned till tomorrow. Qadri will just ask somebody else to file the petition.

But the question arises, why doesn't Qadri just give up his Canadian nationality?

This will be a statement of epic proportions if the SC declares dual nationals without fundamental rights guaranteed to Pak nationals by the Pak constitution.

That means dual nationals can't even vote. That is the same as influencing Pak politics. This minor petition is going to go down in Pak history as a game changer.

IMO, Supreme court is just playing around here, what does the dual nationality of TuQ have to do here?

Dual nationals cannot contest elections or be part of NA or PA, but have all other rights as other pakistani citizens.

This Man Left the country and applied for refugee status on the basis that his life is in danger cannot go back to pakistan cause if he returns to pakistan he will be killed.

To get his immigration he lied about pakistan and lied about the threats he faced clear signs of a good religious leader and a patriotic pakistani.

But the question arises, why doesn't Qadri just give up his Canadian nationality?

As per him, he has two issues:

1- Danger to his life.

2- Because he has to travel alot around the world, a Canadian passport gives him flexibility, we all know how much scared the TSA gets when you travel on a Pak Passport!!!

Remembering from point 1, Canadian authorities also summoned him that why he came to Pakistan as supposedly he had life threatening dangers here. What came of that?

Add to that the parliamentarians and ministers and other politicians with 1+ nationalities. I would not be surprised if they as well have 2 or more nationalities apart from the Pakistani nationality.

Standing in court he said there was no danger to his life. If he says otherwise now, then he just committed purgery.

It's not THAT hard, I've travelled too. Its not an excuse to take an oath of allegiance.

I understand taking up the nationality, but 1) You MUST be loyal to them too, but if a conflict arises, be prepared to leave one or the other. This is a massive conflict.

.

Well you are born and bred in UAE (as I understand) so you may have no problems, but TuQ being a religious personality, who knows?

Although I agree that it is no excuse to take an oath of allegiance.

That's the whole dilemma about dual nationals, especially those who reside year round in the other country, Canada in Qadri's case.

If he does not have the right to file a petition for being a dual nationality holder then why were all the parliamentarians and ministers and other politicians with 1+ nationalities allowed to run the country?

Running a country is bigger issue than filing a petition.

^^ This is exactly TuQ has pointed out that judiciary is protecting the foreign stooges in our assemblies and buerocracy by over looking the constitutional obligations.

Iftikhar Choor and his cronies are full exposed.

Tahir ul qadri is holding a dual nationality with a valid reason then his life was in danger in pakistan .then on what basis he is trying to interfier in politics.not only tahir ul qadri infact for those who are applying for dual nationality should think twice .
