It is true that in order to completely eradicate violent extremism from a society, we need to tackle all its causes and symptoms. Our military operations in Afghanistan, and the Pakistani military operations in North Waziristan, will help eradicate those who are actively planting bombs, explosive devices, kidnapping and attacking people. These operations help to diminish and deter the threat of terrorists and terrorist activities, however to wipe out violent extremism it would be more plausible if, the entire international community works towards building more schools, putting more emphasis on education, developing businesses and living standards, including the justice and equality system.

The battle of terrorism and of eradicating violent extremist ideology is one that we all have to deter within our societies, as it exists, and if not countered, would lead to more of our children and young adults being brainwashed by into killing and hurting themselves and other innocent people. As our National Counter-terrorism Strategy emphasizes, “United States was founded upon a belief in a core set of values that is written into our founding documents and woven into the very fabric of our society. Where terrorists offer injustice, disorder, and destruction the United States must stand for freedom, fairness, equality, dignity, hope, and opportunity. The power and appeal of our values enables the United States to build a broad coalition to act collectively against the common threat posed by terrorists, further de-legitimizing, isolating, and weakening our adversaries.”

Funny, I was just discussing a similar topic about terrorism and it's root causes not to long ago.

Here is a small article I found, it's a nice read and really gets to the root of the problem. If you want to talk about violent ideologies, I think it's important to know what those ideologies are actually saying.

You cannot expect to 'tackle' violent extremism while arming the Zionist apartheid to massacre Muslims like goat in Gaza at the same time. Whatever narrative was built against the extremist groups has been reversed, since they'd be able to justify their fight all over again.

Funding and defending a genocide (hint: Gaza) is not extremism?
Destroying a nation and attacking it based on lies of WMDs while millions die is not extremism?
Illegal drone attacks is not extremism?
Keeping "prisoners" illegaly and "tortuing them" is not extremism?
Tell us honestly, how many schools you have destroyed?
How many businesses did you destroy?
Living standards? How many did you bomb?
Justice and Equality? You mean Every American is equal to 1000 other humans? Justice means carpet bombing?

first now, US should start eliminating terrorism from inside Afghanistan now.
