T84 oplot M brief introduction video

T-84 is not Oplot, T-84 was a tank planned to enter Soviet service in 1992. Oplot ended trials in 2009 and has no "T-XX" index as they were abandoned in Ukraine.

Wiki is not the first source I check but that's not the only site (there are dozens) that speaks about "T-84" Oplot and not BM Oplot. Btw the discussion is pointless: the Oplot (or BM Oplot or T-84 Oplot) is a T-84 lol they didn't design another tank, it's the same tank modified.

Maybe you better look official site of tank manafactures - morozovkmdb
Or wiki makes them ?

You're continuing discuting about the name of the tank (and for me it's ok if there is not "T-84" before Oplot) but you're going away from the point of the discussion of the second page.
If we wanna talk about what is the name of tank X we can make another topic.

The fact that until '90 in several countries there still was T-34-85 doesn't mean it was a "good thing". I'd like to see a country in war with a T-34 against T-80/M1A1/Leopard1... it's ridicolous. If PA needs a good tank to replace old Types, it's good go test T-80 series but we can't say "T-84 is a new tank, he is better than T-90". If we talk about T-80/84 armour, yes, it is a good tank, but (If you check the other discussion related T-84) a guy posted a Greek test on this tank and it failed A LOT against Leclerc/T-80UD/M1A2/Leopard2A5. T-84 is a good tank but not prepared to face modern enemies (of 2015)

Yeah, indeed I agree to buy a tank also for the low cost that T-84 should have in actual ukraine economic condition but, as I said before, buying an old (because T-84 it's not new) tank in 2015 means that in future years PA has to upgrade, do maintance, modifying parts and so on. Things that a new tank probably has not to face.
Dear u r not picking up the point.
Look
We are not rich nation, our terrain do not support Western tanks. We don't have money to buy expansive 60+ ton tanks in large numbers...... We want to stay below 50 ton category.
Also we operate T80UD which is T84OplotM little cousin....... it means we need a little adjustments in our production and maintainable line to operate this tank. This tank involve same tactics as T80UD....... same weapon system, in fact our several T80 operate Main gun of T84.......
We r not buying an old tank...... T84oplot,M will be upgraded with 1500 hp:p: engine and will involve several western and local gadgetry.... it will be a new version and best version of T84 series...... It's like buying T90,MS which is new tank practically and involve heavy modifications over old T90..........
And last point......try to understand that Pakistan will not face any western Tank...... our tanks r against India only...... We deploy our tanks accordingly and we have to fight T72 or T90 only...... nothing else...... so it's useless to compare T84 with any western Tank and staying it will not perform well, we got our tank and we believe it will perform well against India, so nothing to worry.......
For countering Indian T90 and it's all variants, we have AlKhalid,T80,T84...... for countering T72 we will use Al zarrar and Type85....If India went for Armata then We will go for Atlay..... as long as India is not inducting any thing new, we also will not.. .. because we don't want to accelerate arms race..... that's it........

Oplot uses the t-84 as the basis, which is where the relation ends. Essentially, Oplot has so many differences from the original 84 that Ukrainians have classified it as a new class. So you are pretty much wrong in saying that 84 is Oplot which is not the case.

So, go say to the other topic that all people are wrong because they call it "T-84". Also the topic creator has wrong LOL.

U can read it on the manufacturers website man why making a fuss out of nothing.

Pakistan diversifying its relationships is a very good thing, especially with countries such as Ukraine who understand what it's like to be hung out to dry in the cold by so-called partners. But I hope Pakistan uses this platform to actually produce a tank in its entirety, from engine to FCS to cannon. Further cooperation with Turkey and South Africa would also be a good idea.

Might be im wrong oplot might have good features it lacks speed for me if u compare it with AK u see difference

There isn't much difference in speed and the power to weight ratio between them (2 km/hr and 1.3hp/t) as both of them use the same engine. And this semi problem only arises if you have the original 6 TD-2E 1200hp engine but the army is opting for the 6 TD-3 which is 1500hp which should increase speed. This engine may also be used on Al Khalid later as we are going to upgrade its engine to 1500hp and using this will increase commonality in parts and reduce logistical burden.

I still think we should not go for oplot or any tank spend that money replacing small arms of soldiers and also safety of our soldiers we still use old g3 and mp and WW2 machine gun and AK 47 we need to replace entire gear of soldiers with TOT

.
No the actual people who designed it will be hired by the likes of Tata. As for your army accepting anything, well after their rifle joke rejecting every foreign gun, it seems they need a good scolding.

Yes I read on it in detail. They will work on a light tank to gain experience and then move on to a MBT.

Actually, they're going straight for a tank platform. As they submitted some sort of design for the recent FRCV RFI from the army. I dont know who they roped in for this design, it'll be interesting to find out.

Right now they're working on the BMP2 replacements.

You're right about the Indian private sector. They smell the money, and the Indian defence sector is being liberalized. You can see them positioning around in the field. In 20 years time, they'll dominate defence manufacturing within the country, I think.
