I generally oppose things like the death penalty, granted the human race has done its best to make a good case for it nonetheless, but I strongly believe that killing someone permeates the particular mindset that would infuse the ease of killing another. Killing would never stop at just killing the evil, good people will die too.

This approach should never be sought - I know it would somehow come to this regardless of whether or not you pursue it. But the effort should be done to prevent innocent lives from being lost as far as imaginable in all the ways by the human mind.

Oh---wow---that is the view point of the criminals----. They put the fear of reprisals in the law abiding all the time---killing begets killing--absolutely not----you hang a 100 highway robbers in pakistan by the electric poles----you hang another 100 kidnappers on the electric pole----you hang a 100 acid throwers on the electric poles---you will find so much peace in the nation that it would be shocking----.

Case in point---the subway shooting in new York some 20 years ago----this man who was brutalized took his gun with him---he got jumped on the subway by blacks---he shot them---killed 3 or 5 of them-----the new york subways were peaceful and devoid of any black activity for a few weeks.

Well---Asim---with that point of view---you don't deserve freedom and democracy---and you will never get it---. No nation and civilization has ever reached that point without sacrifice---and guess what---history would not be made again----.

The criminals are not embarrassed in killing---they kill one---they kill ten---and then they kill some more----.

This is the wrong thread----but sometimes the river breaks through---. In england---why are people honest---law abiding---do their jobs---respect each other---don't steal ( some do )---consciencious people----was it a magic wand that was waved or out of utter kindness they became as such----.

Well---read english history----it won't tell all the truth---because they don't want to talk about the dark ages---but read works of fiction---and the history opens up----.

What happened to thieves---not simply hung or sent to the colonies---there was a time when thieves were skinned alive----their skins were filled with hay---and then hung outside the church or the city entrance for viewing----it stayed their till insects ate it all----the thieve was still alive without his skin.

For criminals, you would then in later stages would be bundled into ships and deported to colonies and while being transported---maybe 1/10th would die of disease and hunger---and the remaining 1/10 would be killed when they reached their destination---life was ruthless---life was brutal----.

The rule of law was ---AN EYE FOR AN EYE---that is the basis---that is the foundation where the structure of freedom and democracy in the west is placed upon----a strong solid foundation.

A question is often asked during terrible times-----what would you rather have in the society when everything is going haywire----is it going to be THE LAW or is it going to be ORDER in the society.

Pakistanis will never know the answer----because for the last 60 years they have not understood that---it is the word DISCIPLINE that comes before UNITY or anything else----. A nation and its citizens who can't even understand and comprehend the very basics and fundamentals of nationhood will have no clue how to bring justice, democracy and the rule of law in the society.

Tragically only one person knows of that in pakistan---and his name is---THE SUBEDAR MAJOR in the millitary academy----where he cries out loud to everyone----disciple saab discipline---" discipline rakho " chup rast chup rast left right left right---other than him---the whole of the nation is lost---W'Allah---.

In the u s----you would hardly ever hear of someone calling anyone else a liar---typical americans would never say that---guess why----in times ago---you could be killed for saying that---horse thieves and cattle thieves were casually hung---. You never pulled a gun on somebody you never wanted to shoot---you never hit somebody you never wanted to hit---because you could be killed in self defence.
