Sri Lanka through outside eyes

SL has a serious public transport problem, especially the rail system is BS. SL should ask India to build a two track medium/ large gauge system from Kandy to Colombo and Galle to Colombo. Else the transport prices are pretty high. The highways are generally good though.

Correct.. The railways in the island need a major overhaul, India is involved in certain rail development projects concentrated in the North, But ranked with delays further collaboration is suspect

I don't know what projects India is involved in but they can do a brilliant job if they want to. The stretch between Galle and Colombo beig left 'as is' is a crime. It runs parallel to the sea throughout and can offer brilliant views for the entire stretch. Great tourist potential there

In Tamil, known as Shiva's foot (Shiva Padam).

I have heard one can certainly see the natural inspiration and "energy" of the peak when you are there that made it holy (helped by the summit mark resembling a footstep). I believe the buddhists believe the footprint to be of the Buddha...and this concept of progenitor mark lead to the naming of Adam's (garden of Eden) peak in the Christian/Islamic perspective. SL truly in many ways is modern day garden of Eden....many believe it was the original one too.
