They built all the chips etc indigenously........we can build an aesa but only with imported stuff,,,,,they have a workable aesa,see the pics bro and they started working on Kf-x only 5 years ago.

We have been working on tejas for god knows how much time...........we have no excuse

Dude... what's with the india bashing? Do you know about the work done in this field? Have you read LRDE's research papers? The patents filed?

We have successfully developed and are producing 8 channel Transmit Recieve Multi Modules. This is way superior to the Zhuk-ae's 4 channel trmm, and gives exponential range, resolution, and a very robust EW capability.

We already have Gallium Arsenide modules with an individual power output of 10w per TRM...which is right up there with the best. These TRMs are designed by lrde and are already in production by Astra Microwave. You can go to their site for more info.
We even have successfuly developed a GAM module which gives an individual output of 200W per TRM....however since his is new tech worldwide, we'll take 5-10 year to productionize radars using GAM. We have a patent for this tech. Please understand that patents arent avoided for copying technology. We have one because we we've come up with is an original design, and is on par with and even outperforms some of the best radars out there.

It would also interest you to know that while it isnt being used in any production AESA as of now, BEL has developed its own TRMs
In fact the C-band AESA on the RISAT uses TRMMs independently made by ISRO.

Coming to the MMR...you should know that in the 90s our industry wasnt very developed....signal processing LRU's were something that we just didnt have the knowhow for, back then. While the software industry was building up, no one had the knowledge to write algorithms for such units. Hence Israeli LRUs were utilized. Other than this, the radome, phase shift modules , etc were all made right here. Only the signal processing LRUs were Israeli. Things have long changed, and we do have a working prototype in the 1/8 scale, as we speak.

Now coming to Integrated circuitry . DRDO has developed and successfully productionized a 3 core microprocessor with miniaturization level of 90 nano meters, so we're not they behind korea in IC designing.

We arent just getting any AESA radar for the lca, we're getting just something that is completely toe to toe with the very best there ever has been.

yaar we need 32 bit or 64 bit ****

apple iphone 5s released today has 64 bit a7 processor!!

but yes we have started doing something atleast,,,,now couple of chip making factories need to be planned

the point i'm trying to make, is YES there are going to be delays. We're on a learning curve. But there is VERY good work being done by our labs. Most of this isnt very flashy, and doesnt interest most people in the defence community, because frankly we cant understand it, and also research papers circulate within a very small community.

It took us a while to get started, and it'll be a while yet before we actually start seeing accretions. There are still weak points. The level of production, bureaucracy etc. But in any technological aspect, if you compare our new radars to the best in the world, they will not be found wanting. This isnt indigenisation for the sake of indigenisation. We never accepted that, nor will we.

This AESA for eg took a very short time to come up with. Of course. Fine tuning and ironing out the kinks and ruggedizing it will take a little while, but on the tech aspect its gonna be up there with any AN/APG out there.
