South Korea: Bollywood’s Future Market?

In that case why not also claim "Bollywood's Future in Antarctica" or "Bollywood's future on mars"
That is just as relevant.

And do you know why Bollywood is considered a joke?
Because there is no art there, it's factory manufactured.
How long has bollywood existed? 50?60?70 years?
IN that time cinema in other countries produces amazing peices, they created new genres, they pushed technology, and they told compelling stories.
what has bollywood done?
Their stories simply moved from the village to the cities, from the town squares to the night clubs.
If bollywood wan'ts to be taken seriously they need to push the envelope. Tell compelling stories, and make horror, scifi, action, comedy, etc.
And for the love of god, stop making every movie a musical.

If bollywood can do that, then maybe it will have a future in other countries.

Says a Pakistani whose national television channels are clouded by panel discussion about India's cultural war and Bollywoods invasion.

Well a market for Bollywood is definitely there in Korean, just search "Korea Bollywood" in youtube and you will get the idea, I dont want to post 50 videos from there here. Is it a significant market? No. Can it be made significant? I think so, cant hurt to try.

enough to know that they are soulless and factory manufactured.
You don't have to Einstein o realize that the reason Bollywood produces the most movies on earth is because that is easy to do when they are all copies of each other.

TO make quality movies you need to spend time, ofter years on just one movie. But in Bollywood you have 1 actor releasing like 5 movies a year.

well the market is all over the world. The question is can Bollywood adapt?
Can they make the changes that will allow them to appeal to a broader audience?
Even white people here watch Bollywood ..... Ironically

Show me hard figures: revenue from Indian audience (local + expat) v/s non-Indian culture audience.
Here Indian means South Asian.

Of course, the discussion is about Bollywood as it is now. If Bollywood changes significantly (e.g. starts making $100 million special effects extravaganzas), then that would be a different discussion.

What is "modified" about saying that Bollywood calibrates its soft **** to keep it just within the limits of social acceptability?

Your contention seems to be that Bollywood does business in sexually repressed countries like Pak because of soft ****. Maybe you havent seen Lollywood movies (and the Mujra culture you have going in Pak), but that stuff is much more vulgar than Bollywood any given day. They dont make money because they suck compared to Bollywood.
I have seen some clips here and there of Lollywood

They dont need to adapt, if Koreans (or other people) really want to watch Sci Fi movies, they can watch Avatar which is made on 300 million dollar production costs.

Point is they just need to capitalize on the initial market, and make the Bollywood movies which are pretty unique and Indian culturally to begin with.

No, that soft **** comment was only about places where Bollywood transcends the niche market and breaks into the mainstream.

There is a global niche market of foreign/artsy movie lovers who watch Bollywood for its content.

I already addressed that point in this post earlier:

The Lollywood of recent decades is a complete failure. The movies are considered vulgar ****, not suitable for family viewing. That's precisely why Bollywood thrives in Pakistan because, unlike the morons in Lollywood, the Indians carefully calibrate the intensity of their soft **** to keep it 'respectable' for family viewing.

Yes, Pakistani movies are more vulgar compared to Indian movies particularly those vulgar mujra

if you want to survive in foreign countries you need to adapt. people might watch a bollywood movie once to get a taste but they won't continue to watch if all of it is the same.

Would you watch Korean movies over and over again if they were all the same?
Of course not, you would watch one and then move on.

Still doesnt make sense. So if both Bollywood and Lollywood are making soft **** movies essentially, why does one dominate and the other local industry (which gets much more preference from the local population) fail to dominate?

every industry makes some crap movies...just because u've seen only those films..u canot generalise them to all...and people have different interests..just because u dont like them doesnt mean everybody doesnt....nobody expects unanimously the same from a film..

Bollywood's core industry will always be Indian, while also making money from foreign countries where there is a market for it on the side, the task ahead for Bollywood is to try and expand the market they have in other foreign nations. Kind of like how Japan makes its anime stuff for locals, and capitalized on its foreign markets to expand its revenue, but still if you watch anime, its very localized to Japanese culture.

. The only way I see it changing is when it has enough funds to compete with Hollywood in the future, but currently the American market is 40 times bigger than Bollywood by revenue.

Because Lollywood overdoes it by a long shot.

We can give credit to Bollywood for finding and sticking to a formula balancing the soft **** (for men) with the emotional content (for women) and making sure neither aspect gets too excessive to turn the other gender off.

For comparison, the Lollywood of the 70s and early 80s was competitve with Bollywood in terms of quality, but there is no comparison now. Lollywood now is essentially vulgar ****.
