What's new

Sophistication of Indian tech is now sufficient to build a Rafale

Despite being on a defence forum, you guys have forgot about the DF-21D, the world's very first Anti-ship Ballistic Missile platform.

America said it couldn't be done, Russia said it couldn't be done.

But now even they admit (including the US defence department) that China's DF-21D is currently operational, and that there is "currently no defence against it".

Soon we'll have DF-21D modified with an HGV warhead, for massively increased speed, mid-flight maneuverability, low altitude, and almost doubled range. That is nearly impossible to intercept.

And according to American analysts, we can build 1000-2000 of our DF-21D's for the cost of a single carrier. Not counting the expensive planes and the thousands of personnel on board a carrier as well. And the US defence department said even one single DF-21D warhead can kill a carrier, and obviously we will not be firing them one at a time. But rather in overwhelming saturation strikes.

what makes you think you can fire a shit ton of ICBMs with these HGV and not have ICBMS heading for Beijing and Shanghai all of China really???

do you think we'll just assume it's not a nuclear attack or just retaliate with a nuclear attack when these "carrier killing ICBMs" kill tens of thousands of American sailors??

just try it and see how crazy we are to bring the world to an end.

India has a slow culture, how you could expect it to move faster? The most lucky part is that Chinese are not Japanese, or they will be slaughtered.

Some would question this assessment, it would be easy to overestimate the J-20 purely because the makers have designated it as a VLO, next generation fighter but what experience does China actually have in VLO/next generation technology? The US (the world's premier aerospace power) has been working on the F-22 for more than 3 decades, China significantly less.

The Rafale's electronics are world class and some would argue superior to the F-22s in certain ways. If the EA-18G is said to present a risk to the F-22 in certain combat tests due to its powerful electronics then there is clearly something to this theory.

An explanation of SPECTRA's radar-countermeasure capabilities by an ex-French systems engineer :

Carbone is a demonstrator of an escort-jamming system where dedicated platforms and crews is replaced by a combination of integrated systems featuring a solid-state phased-array jammer, with very high transmitted power and real-time steering of multi-beam . This is fitted in an automatic pod carried by a multirole fighter for the stand-in/escort jamming mission.

Carbone is significantly more powerful than existing or upgraded offensive-jamming pods. Carbone use DRFM receiver and real-time geolocation algorithms, such as those implemented in Spectra.

Operational trials have demonstrated Carbone's effectiveness, and particularly its capability to jam through scattered lobes (NATO MACE X field trials in August 2000).

I understand that the philosophy of Carbone was to analyse incoming signal with interferometry , locate the emitter, duplicate the signal with DRFM, and send it several time to the emitter. So it's not just noise as in general for offensive jammer.

But remember that Carbone was just a demonstrator, perhaps the objective was just to demonstrate a real time capability to duplicate signal. Because if you are able to do that in real time, no doubt that you will be able to slighty modify the replica to make smarter jam.

Finally technologies are the same as SPECTRA : DRFM, localisation, but the power is bigger and the jamming approach is less smart. The corresponding operational system is perhaps SPECTRA.

How does SPECTRA work?

First you need to know perfectly the "signature" of your own aircraft. Due to the complexity of the SPECTRA traitment, Rafale start to simplify its signature: the aircraft is designed so that its untreated radar signature is concentrated in a few strong "spikes," which are then "attenuated" by the selective use of RAM. The collection of these few strong spikes are the "model" of Rafale.

Second it would be nice to cancel the reflected radar signal. The original incoming signal from the radar will be reflected from the spikes. Each spikes will produce an individual reflection with its own, often unique, amplitude and phase. The return signal, picked up by the radar, would look somewhat chaotic, consisting of background noise and "spikes". By removing these "spikes" from the radar screen the aircraft may blend in with the background noise, which is normally ignored by the radar operators.

If you look at where are SPECTRA active antenna, surprisingly they are close to areas that can generate spikes.

To remove these spikes the aircraft, when painted by a radar, transmits a signal which mimics the echo that the radar will receive from the spikes, but one half-wavelength out of phase, so that the radar sees no return from them. The advantage of this technique is that it uses very low power, compared with conventional EW, and provides no clues to the aircraft's presence; the challenge is that it requires very fast processing. This fast processing was demonstrated by Carbone.

It are these abilities which will be further developed including new technologies to create true, active stealth methods. By
using which Rafale can potentially achieve RCS figures as low as F-35 (with weapon pods), and not even have to
sacrifice any aerodynamic quality.

What is exactly details of TOT including in Rafale contract?

Canopy fragilisation circuit.
Digital and Microwave jamming unit tech.
Thermo plastic composite.
AESA radar and components tech.
EW suite tech.
Titanium Alloy superplastic forming.
Robotic riveting.
FADEC.(Full authority digital engine (or electronics) control)
Co-cured composite stiffened parts.
Radio crystallography
Super plastic foaming

Are some of them.

LOL. Then there is that. You really should be looking at giving cheap loans to neighbours and building an alliance like US with you 4 trillion $ reserves.

Unfortunately due to the political structure in China, you lack political maturity to handle relationships.
We have good relationship with all your neighbours. We will not even lavish one penny on foreign weapons if we could produce a infereior but workable one.

Japanese really slaughtered you but when they came for us we kicked their a$$ (in WW-2).

just buy it.

Come on! the only laywer attending the Tokyo judgement thinked those Japanese criminals are innocent is from India. The Japanese build a statue for him in the Yasukuni Shrine. The Chinese are too many to be slaughtered, they failed in the end by exhaust of war resource and numbers.

What has India's neighbours got to do with this ? Political maturity is required to handle YOUR neighbours, not India's neighbours

just buy it.

Now that would be common sense. But Fan boys lack it.

Those so called neighbours are just some vassal states of ancient China, we will get them going in the future.

The reason of those neighbours don't follow China is because they think they could wantonly get hands on Chinese interests with USA's support. We will defeat USA and get the leadership in Asia back, no matter what.

You are just proving my point about Chinese lacking political maturity. :disagree:
maturity my a$$, can you stop China subs stationing in Lanka to show your maturity?

First try to get the Rafale deal straight before you talk maturity here.

Show me how India has done better for the long-term compared to China? Whether in indigenous defence industries or in economic matters?

You know we have the largest manufacturing base in the world, which has allowed us to amass currency reserves of around $4 trillion? Our currency reserves alone are more than double the entire Indian GDP.

Whereas India has only started to build a national manufacturing base, a process that took us 40 years to complete!

After 40 years into the future, will you come and say India has beat China in the long-term because India now has a national manufacturing base?

Even today China is already the largest market for industrial robots, after you are done in 40 years then industrial robots will be far more efficient and you'll be decades too late.

Your government is obsessed with short-termism, things like votebank subsidies, and imports. We are the opposite, we have always encouraged long-termism, and our own domestic industries, companies like Lenovo which are now the number one in the world PC market. We work for the long-term, you guys are the ones who work for the short-term, and it shows in your lagged development.

i never compared india and china ..cant be ..
--
Manufacturing..
you have largest base . right..
Why..
Man .. yes .. cheap labur ..
Material... Yes.. you dont do much noise for env like we do for posco ..
Money .. partly yes .
System.. not much political issue
which can be taken you for these decades .. but in future can you ,
keep you wages low?
-move to hgher end manufacring
-balance envi- gowth -sustainable growth
-manage money supply and NPA of banks
-manage social balance and political stability
--
Development model
partly agree with you as chinese system allows to take large project and long term perspective on nation interest..
india other hand stuck with what you metioned..
---
cruz of matter is ..
china run and developed by few peopl / group
india run and develope by 121 billion people..more mature the people more mature the nation ..
---
i admire chinese for what they have achived..
but
i admire india too that it gave power to people which is slow process ...
both can grown as per each other + and -
now time will tell who can do better after decaded
but now china rules ..

Yes, we can. You got no chance to catch up. Modi won't be there forever, we just wait another Nehru family appears.

Your culture fails you in the competition with China.

Now this is the classic chinese lack of emotional maturity. You are bringing over discussion of a previous thread into this thread. :disagree:

It is this same lack of maturity that makes you politically naive.

US displays maturity in handling its international relationships. That is why its neighbours stand with the US and it has allies all over the world. China is the antithesis of that political maturity.

I don't know why IAF persisting on buying Rafale. The whole deal is delayed that it's rival will shift from J10B to J20.

USA build its 'maturity' by advanced weapon and spreading its poisonous culture, can't you see that? My way or the high way, you understand?
