No one has shunned Dr Salaam. That rubbish is in the media only.
No true,he has been completely ignored if you ask a common Pakistani about Salam he will not even know who Salam was but if you ask about say, A.Q Khan or some abc politician or mullah or some indian actor he will talk hours about it and it is everyday observation,
even my Physics teacher in school days had no idea about him other than what was written in the book and he even deducted my marks in test when i wrote Salam died in 1996.He thought Salam was alive and was working in london and was British National which in fact was totally incorrect.
Few people know that he was founder of SUPARCO and had great contribution in PAEC and Pakistan's atomic program and wanted to open ICTP(international center for theoretical physics) in Pakistan but the Govt here didn't agree to provide funds and he got offer from Italian Govt: and had to open it there because he didn't had funds to open it by himself still many Pakistanis have been to ICTP.All this is due to pure prejudice because of his Faith.
No only one or two and LUMS is private go check government universities you wont find much about him. There is a chair at LUMS under Dr. Salam's name. I guess other universities have it too in Pakistan.
Dr. Salam was not a muslim according to our constitution and our faith.
Does this has do with Salam's work or the topic of the thread that he is ignored or hated? but you will do mention this wont you? people here are so obsessed with his faith wont acknowledge his contributions but will do tell you he was a Qadiani (a derogatory term for Ahmadis)
As for muslim thing Allah not Constitutions of Pakistan will decide who is right who is wrong on the day of judgment. As in the words of Javed Ahmed Ghamidi (summarized)"It is for people to do good deeds good and hard work and for Allah to judge but here people judge and leave work to Allah" this reflects the sorry state of our society.
Agreed, but this is not reality in Pakistan. So that does not make him any less Pakistani
and his achievements have not gone unnoticed.
No he has been ignored here how many paper or tv channels celebrated this? NONE! did you even know about salam's contribution to Higgs Boson? NO untill you read this article, even after hue and cry in international media still no report or even slightest of news no not even in DAWN paper or tv.Just due to his Faith.
If you want an example look at the post of amigonaqvi when people like him told about his contributions to world and Pakistan and that he was a Pakistani to be proud of they will say "He was a Qadiani and not Muslim according to our constitution" the most absurd answer you will get from anyone,a prima facie example of prejudice but this is the truth and reality a saddening and ugly reality for us.
Even Bangladeshis(ex eastPakistanis) like him and have made his statues I saw one in tv in Shehzad Roy's program "Wasu or mein".
I have stopped reading AP or AFP posts. They never have anything positive about Pakistan. Isn't this enough to report that there is a Pakistani to celebrate for his achievements but a religious and social aspect is pulled and commented upon to show only a negative aspect
You are free to make your choice but Had it not for them, you would even know about his contribution to Higgs Boson.
AND who in Pakistan is celebrating this pray tell me!
you will see tv channels gone crazy for as little as young MCPS'(Microsoft certified professionals e.g Arfa Kareem) but not a single second for Salam a great scientist,Nobel Laureate and a Patriot.
