On the contrary, the Political Leadership of the People's Republic of China not only claims Taiwan, southern SCS, but there are right wingers in the CCP that voice China's exercise of control over Mongolia, and Southern Siberia as intrinsic territories of China. It is foolish for anyone to deny that possibility.

When China grows in power parity with the United States in 20 some years, it will be foolish for any power to think that China will not exercise territorial claims of much of its historical lands.

We are talking about Zhongguo. Do you know what Zhonguo means in the Chinese lit ? It means, literally, 'Middle of the Earth'. The Chinese consider themselves and their nation the center of the world, and all other states, be it America, Japan, Russia, India, etc, as peripheries. There are too many Russians in Ukraine to allow NATO to install missile defense in Ukraine pointed at Russia. And I'm talking about half of the population of Ukraine who speak Russian as native language. Only western Ukrainians who don't speak Russian will allow NATO to do that in western Ukraine.

If China uses the maps of Qing Dynasty as historical basis for its claims in Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Ladakh, Kashmir, Tibet, Xinjiang, Taiwan, South China Seas, then, why would they (The Chinese Leadership) restrict it only to these areas? When the maps clearly show that Southern Siberia, Mongolia as inclusive parts of China during the Qing Dynasty?

The CCP will , in the end, apply continuity.

China will not recognize this, and hence she did not support Russia in the UN Security Council. Do you know the etiology for China's position? Because , my dear, if China recognizes the Crimean people's right to referendum, then by principle, it would have to recognize Taiwanese people's right to referendum the moment they so initiate right of cessation.

Perhaps you failed to read the breadth of my post, let me rephrase it for you:

If China acknowledges the Crimean vote to secede, then by principle, she will be forced to swallow her own position when Taiwan initiates a referendum to a new nation state. Thus, China did not vote with Russia or with US, but rather abstained. A most wise strategy.

Technically, Tibet attempted to gain independence right after the 1911 Revolution which overthrew the Qing dynasty. China fought to get Tibet back and maintained China's territorial integrity. Just like Russia fought to get back Chechnya and maintained Russia's territorial integrity.
