Sisi seeks to conclude military deal with France swiftly

I am talking about boots on the ground, and you are talking about military attaches?
:crazy::crazy::crazy:

Ergh!

There are zero US combat troops in Egypt outside of the MFO which is an international peace keeping force with a specific job. There is no US base in Egypt, unless you can prove otherwise, continue window licking.

Here what a wiser man that knows very well the military industry and establishment in France...I am going to leave it in French...and you can translate it for other if you want...
"regardingthe advanced Franco-Egyptian.negociations..Guisnel, an aficianado in Europeen defence wrote in his blog:
"Les milieux concernés, à la défense et dans l'industrie, se montrent optimistes, mais se souviennent de trop d'annonces tonitruantes qui n'ont été suivies d'aucun contrat. Tout le monde commence à trépigner, mais un proche du dossier se refuse à succomber à l'enthousiasme "tant que ces contrats ne seront pas conclus, que
l'encre ne sera pas sèche et les premiers acomptes versés." Conclusion : on se calme !"

You're out of date. The initial payment is 0.5B (can't remember if it's in Euros or Dollars). Egypt has already agreed to pay it, the deal is in its final stage, signing.

You mean window shopping ? That what Egypt is doing know..Even though France went to great length to make the contract appealing and manageable, better than the one given to Morocco's for their fremm, Egypt won't be able to pull it, and France won't be able to place her high flying toy any soon, at least not with Egypt...
For the US base in Egypt, it does exist because that is one of the US's prerequisite to sell arm's to a third party country. Beside that, Egypt is one of her launch pad of her policies in Africa.

I'll comeback to you with the details of the deal..!/2 B..my @ss!

We will see.

OK, where is the US military base in Egypt? what is its name?

Btw Camp lemonnier in Djibouti is the main US military base in Africa, and houses USAFRICOM and CTJF-HOA. It is the main launch pad of US operation in Africa and is centered around Operation Enduring Freedom- Horn of Africa.

For a nation that's supposedly a launch pad for operations in Africa does it make much sense that Egypt isn't even part of US Africa Command's area of operations? Nor features heavily in it?

The United States Africa Command (USAFRICOM or AFRICOM) is one of nine Unified Combatant Commands of theUnited States Armed Forces, headquartered at Kelley Barracks, Stuttgart, Germany. It is responsible for U.S. military operations and military relations with 53 African nations – an area of responsibility (AOR) covering all of Africa except Egypt,

What part of initial payment did you not get?

The deal is reportedly worth around 5.3 to 6.0 billion.

Did I say it was done yet? No. Is it in its final stages? Yes. Are there any real apparent issues right now that may scupper the deal? No. Does Egypt have a problem in financing the initial payment? No. You're arguing just for the sake of it.

Egypt's Sisi approves deal to buy French Rafale fighters: Le Monde

(Reuters) - Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has approved the purchase of 24 Rafale fighters, a Fremm frigate and MBDA missiles from France in a deal worth more than 5 billion euros ($5.64 billion), Le Monde newspaper reported on Tuesday.

The arms contract could be officially signed on Wednesday or Thursday, Le Monde reported without saying where it obtained the information.

Officials from Egypt's army and the presidency could not immediately be reached for comment. A French government official also declined comment.

Dassault Aviation, which builds the Rafale, declined to comment. This would be the first export deal for the fighter jet.

French Rafale fighter jet sale to Egypt 'imminent': source| Reuters

(Reuters) - France is close to selling Dassault Aviation-built Rafale fighter jets to Egypt, sources close to the matter said on Tuesday, as Cairo looks to upgrade its military hardware over fears the crisis in neighboring Libya could spill over.

France and Egypt have been negotiating since a November state visit by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi over 24 Rafale jets, a Fremm naval frigate and MBDA air-to-air missiles in a deal worth 5 billion to 6 billion euros ($5.65-$6.78 billion), two industrial sources told Reuters last week.

"It's imminent. For me the signature is certain," a French source told Reuters on Tuesday.

The source said one remaining issue was the delivery timeframe.

@Frogman

Wow, 5 billion? Do you believe F-15 would be better acquisition? I doubt US would sell them to Egypt. Okay now I realize there is naval frigate with the deal. What will Egypt equip on the new jets and for what role? I like it, brings something new to the ME rather than usual American warplanes.

I don't believe this is related to Libya, not sure how it would help. But it is needed upgrade for Egyptian Air Force although I'd like that number to be 36.

. . .
Can you get me one for birthday? :-) :partay:

.......

On serious note, what is expected delivery time?

Egypt hopes to have them before the innauguration of the expension of the Suez Canal (In August),to deliver them before that,some rafales could be taken quickly on Dassault production chain at Merignac,concerning The Fremm,one will be deducted from the quota of the Marine Nationale,and delivered before August (The FREMM Normandie will become Egyptian if there's no problem and the deal signed....)

We will see.

Egypt should have kept it under wrap until the deal is done....The US, Egypt stronger ally hasn't said their word yet. GCC, your banker hasn't say a word either...I hope for the sake of Egypt that you will get something, finally, potent.

@Frogman @Mahmoud_EGY

Lemonde.fr revealed that the negociations seem to have ended today,and it needs the official signature of Al Sissi and probably Hollande (or Le Drian) and also said that it will be officially signed on Monday in Cairo. (if there's no problem or whatever):bunny:

So :

-24 Rafales
-Missiles (SCALP,MICA,AASM)
-1 FREMM (So,the FREMM Normandie will become Egyptian,this is a good news for us,because if Egypt takes the Normandie,our chief of staff of the navy said that we will accelerate the production of the FREMMs and our navy will have 4 FREMM before 2016,because our navy really needs new and modern ships to replace the old ships....,so good for us good for Egypt. :bunny: )
