dear, he is not Bengali. He lived in Dhaka (present day Bangladesh), got schooled there and can speak the language, but he isn't an ethnic Bengali. M. M. Alam's maternal ancestors were Turks and had come to the Sub Continent in the early 15th century, his paternal ancestors were from Bihar Sharif. His father, Masood Alam settled in Calcutta and in 1947, the Alam family migrated to Dhaka, East Pakistan and finally to Karachi, West Pakistan.

So in technical terms he is Behari, due to his paternal lineage. However as i always point out, he thinks, sleeps, eats and FIGHTS as a PAKISTANI. He still lives in Karachi and not in Dubai as pointed out by Hamza. Though he is not very well nowadays due to old age. Please pray for his health. regards
