Boeing expects to sign contracts soon covering India’s planned purchase of its AH-64E Apache and CH-47F Chinook helicopters, while global interest in the V-22 Osprey tiltrotor produced with partner Bell has reached a new high.

India is currently in “final signature routing with the Ministry of Defence” for both its planned acquisitions, says Leanne Caret, Boeing’s vice-president, vertical lift. “We anticipate a contract for the Chinooks in the first half of the year, and the Apaches in the second half,” she adds.

Boeing has held its prices for the planned 22-aircraft Apache buy and 15-unit Chinook sale since submitting final offers in 2010 and 2009, respectively, Caret says.

Elsewhere in the Asia-Pacific region, Indonesia moved to acquire the AH-64E last year, while Boeing has an active campaign to offer the type to Malaysia.

And Caret hints at further likely developments for the AH-64 programme, which in 2013 delivered its 2,000th production aircraft. Referring to long-term plans for an “Advanced Apache”, she notes: “there will be more technologies that will come.”

Meanwhile, as a pair of US Marine Corps MV-22s are making the type’s debut appearance at a Singapore show, Caret says the type is getting “a lot of interest internationally”. Israel is currently moving towards finalising an order for six of the type, solicitations have been received from two other nations and multiple delegations are being flown this week.

International sales of the Osprey, combined with a potential opportunity to meet a replacement carrier onboard delivery need for the US Navy, could combine to boost production by up to 100 aircraft beyond current confirmed orders for the US Air Force and Marines, Caret says.

...This govt will be super fast in closing the defence deals...:undecided:
get the Dollars to Swiss Bank now...or wait for ...10 years to come back to power...:azn:

These small deals can be signed withing this fiscal.

Don't spout such nonsense.
..I wish they were nonsense...but with elections round the corner, the defence deals will be signed in dozens...when most of them were put in freezer for most of the last 5 years...
You too will observe this..

A) 92% of the current defence budget's capital budget has already been spent till now.

B) things are not how they used to be. As much as I dislike Antony's inaction on certain deals he is right when he says defence procurements are now largely above suspicion and out of political control/interference.

C) these deals are being procured under the FMS route which entirely rules out even a whiff of corruption/mal-practice. FMS are as clean as they come.

D) this article clearly points out neither one of these deals will be signed before the elections so will NOT be signed by the CURRENT govt making your white argument invalid.

E) it has been the norm that around Jan-March every year you see a flurry of deals bein signed as the finical year comes to a close and the military tries to spend its full allocation I resources instead of handing back unspent funds (which happens year on year out).

Don't forget that you are on an international forum and trying to paint everyone who is associated with these deals as corrupt.

OT" the IA needs these heli's badly.

I think in the case of the Apache especially there are still ongoing negotians wrt off sets and the like as such it is not ready to be signed- only in Q2 2014.

There is something seriously wrong with MoD.

The absolute priority in acquisition has to be the MRTT's and Phalcon AWACS.

And these dont even seem to be on any radar.

So is there any possibility of India making a bigger deal of 100++ Apaches and 60++ Chinooks.

Chances are there ...Coz India always come with small order first ...If it works fine...We will order more.

advance equipments, very good, is it going to be used on the Chinese border or the Pakistan border or just somewhere in land in India.

American helicopters is just flat out better than Russian ones.

Just like the case of 8 P-8Is they have ordered 8 of them then confirmed that they are getting 12 of them and will opt for a total of 30 P-8Is.
