to evacuate the golden temple was a right step taken at right time otherwise situation in punjab won't be different then that of pakistan where radicals want overtake every institution..

I will not say it was the right step,not entirely.It was a desperate step and very much necessary at that point of time.

But the right step would have been to stop this movement and the weapons buildup inside Golden temple at the very beginning.Entire India was shocked to see the kind of weapons found after the operation was over.It was a complete intelligence failure.

There were way too many indicators that something was going on,but the state didnt do much at that time,and it finally led to a crisis situation like the Bluestar.
Somebody has said,"A stitch in time saves nine".A timely action could have averted a tragedy like the Bluestar.

Present day Pakistan has 0.03% Sikhs.
