LAHORE - The Bangladesh Cricket Board chief Nazimul Hassan took another U turn by assuring Pakistan Cricket Board that they will now tour in May, it has been learnt.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) must link the Bangladesh team tour with the Pakistan players' participation in the Bangladesh Premier League to be started in April. The BCB authorities started feeling the heat of its second edition of the Bangladesh Premier League in the absence of Pakistani players. The foreign players were reluctant to appear in the BPL due to delay in their first edition's payments and irresponsible attitude by the organisers.

The Bangladesh team was due to tour Pakistan in March 2012 and a team led by Bangladesh Cricket Board former chief Mustufa Kamal visited Pakistan to assess the security and other arrangements for the players and mediamen and after visiting the venues and expressed their satisfaction over the security arrangements and left Pakistan in a happy mood.
But in the meanwhile a Bangladesh citizen filed a petition seeking cancellation of Pakistan tour on security grounds and Dhaka High Court issued an order to defer the tour for indefinite period.
PCB chief fulfilled his promised to support Bangladeshi candidate for the post of ICC vice president and Mustufa Kamal was elected vice president of ICC.

In December 2012, newly elected BCB president Nazimul Hasan reportedly told PCB that their team is ready to visit Pakistan for one T20 and an ODI to fulfill the commitment made by the former chief Mustufa Kamal,At that time it felt that the efforts of Pakistan Cricket Board chief Zaka Ashraf has started yielding the fruit as he is struggling hard to bring international cricket back to Pakistan.
But after the passage of two weeks the Bangladeshi cricket authorities took another U-turn and linked the tour with the ICC clearance and nomination of officials for the short series and cancelled the January tour. Now they announced that their team will tour Pakistan in May to save Bangladesh Premier League from a total failure as no player interested in playing in the league due to delay in payments to the players by the organisers.
As many as 42 Pakistan players shown their interest in playing in the Bangladesh Premier League and a few players have been hired by different franchises owners during the first auction held in December. Those includes; Imran Nazir, Shahid Afridi and Abdul Razzak. But due to start of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy in which best players participation look in doubt as PCB might not relieve them for the event.
Feeling the pressure of failure of second edition of Bangladesh Premier League the BCB now reportedly said that their team will now tour Pakistan in May to save their league from disaster.
According to a report, BCB president Nazmul Hassan did not get any confirmation from his Pakistani counterpart Ch Zaka Ashraf regarding the participation of players in the second edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 during a meeting held recently in New Delhi.
"Our president (Nazmul Hassan) requested the PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf to release all available players if it is not possible to send the PCB-contracted players to the BPL. PCB chairman (Zaka Ashraf) noted it down. Nobody made any commitments during their meeting. But we are hopeful that the Pakistan player will play the BPL," said BCB's media committee chairman Jalal Yunus.
"They talked about bilateral cricket issues and among other things the Bangladesh team's tour to Pakistan and participation of Pakistani players in the 2nd edition of the Bangladesh Premier League T20 were discussed," Yunus was quoted as saying in the board's official statement regarding the meeting.
"The BCB president assured Zaka Ashraf that he will have detailed discussions on the Pakistan tour with the board's ad hoc executive committee on his return to Bangladesh after attending the Asian Cricket Council meeting in Kuala Lumpur," he continued.
"The two boards also decided to work closely to identify an appropriate time to tour Pakistan," he added.
Though Pakistan Cricket Board reportedly said that the players will be given NOC but in the prevailing circumstances it looks impossible.
Meanwhile, the cricket circles were of the view that first Bangladesh fulfils its commitment and tour Pakistan first then PCB issues the NOC to players for their participation in Bangladesh Premier League. The participation of the Pakistani players became a cause for concern after BCB postponed the Tigers' proposed short trip to Pakistan a little more than a week ago.

PCB must link BD tour to Pakistan with players NOC for BPL | The Nation

It's not a hard decision to take if you have a hot head. And want to play tit for tat.
Pakistan's attitude had always been supportive be it a cricket world cup or helping them via their star players.

.
Pakistani players belong in Pakistani Leagues or Pakistani national team ONLY.

NOBODY else. Hell with all these other PLs coming out of the woodwork

no offense to BPL by the way, i wish them luck

. .
I think they should play. Bangladesh is a friendly country and it should be helped. Hasina is puppet controlled from India and she would rather see BD destroyed than piss off India.

BD deserves our support, not our anger.

Your opinion seems very legit sir , as PCB is already hunting players for the home grown league.
With a tight schedule availability of the player will hinder any plans even if there is any willingness to participate in BCL.

Pakistan Super League unveiled as PCB lures stars

KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), on Thursday, unveiled its plan for hosting a glamorous Twenty20 cricket league, which it hoped would lure international stars and herald the revival of international cricket in the country.

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) was launched in Lahore in a glitzy ceremony attended by members of Pakistan’s men’s and women’s cricket captains, board officials and cricket greats.

According to the PCB, the league will be launched this March, with an opening ceremony on March 23 and matches will ensue from the following day.

Five teams will be part of the league in its first three editions and each team will comprise five local players and six international players.

PSL will be played on a league format with all teams playing each other twice on pattern of the popular football leagues and the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Ashraf said the league would go a long way in helping local cricketers as they will get a chance to play with the big names of the game and herald a new era for Pakistan’s domestic cricket.

Former chief of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Haroon Lorgat has been appointed as an advisor of the league, PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf announced during the ceremony.

“Today is a very important day for Pakistan cricket,” Lorgat, who was present at the ceremony, said.

Lorgat had previously met with PCB officials as they sought to bring international cricket teams back to Pakistan.

“PSL will help revive international cricket in Pakistan,” Lorgat said.

No international cricket team has played in Pakistan following the attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in March 2009, which injured several Sri Lankan cricketers and ICC umpires.

While Bangladesh Cricket Board had shown willingness to send its team to Pakistan on two occasions last year, it backed out later citing reservations on the security situation.

@ PSL news

thats too much quota of foreign players in one team ...6 foreign players in one team !!!!! from where PCB will bring so many foreign quality players .....6 players in each team... so 5 teams make 30 foreign players then you need some reserve/back-up and extras that makes it to roughly 40-42 players that is sum number .....i fear we may not see major players .....

WI players will be lot easier than most to attract with relatively very low salaries from their board and lingering conflicts

money speaks.
Idea is to bring as many foreign players as possible in these difficult times.

.
I think BCB is/was doing their best for a Pak tour as they had given words, but our current govt is unwilling and unfortunately both BCB and GoB are shaming us in the process.

PCB bars players from Bangladesh T20 league

DHAKA: Bangladesh cricket chiefs said Wednesday that Pakistan had refused to release any of its players for the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) which begins this week after a planned bilateral series had to be scrapped.
Pakistan had been due to host Bangladesh for a Twenty20 game and a 50-over match in Lahore this month in what would have been its first home internationals since a deadly attack on the Sri Lankan team bus nearly four years ago.
But the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) cancelled the tour, saying Pakistan was not safe for its players.
According to a BCB spokesperson, Pakistan has now responded by preventing any of its stars from competing in the BPL which begins Thursday.
“The chief executive officer of PCB called our CEO today and informed him that they won’t allow their players to play in the BPL until we send our team to their country,” spokesman Jalal Yunus told AFP.
“We’ve now decided to host the event without Pakistani players,” he said, adding the BPL’s seven franchises would now find replacements for the 26 Pakistani players they bought in the auction last month.
The move represents a major blow for the second edition of the BPL since Pakistani cricketers have a big following in Bangladesh.
More than 50 Pakistani players took part in the auction for the second edition of BPL, with opening batsman Imran Nazir fetching $280,000.
Last year more than 20 Pakistani players took part in the inaugural edition, with all-rounder Shahid Afridi sold for the highest fee of $700,000.

BCB spokesman Yunus said Bangladesh has not ruled out touring Pakistan in the coming months but wanted to reassess the security situation before sending a team.
Bangladesh was also due to tour Pakistan last April, but the tour was blocked by the Dhaka High Court on security grounds.
PCB statement
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) spokesperson Nadeem Sarwar on Wednesday said that the BCB should not have directly approached Pakistani players for the BPL, but they should have done it through the PCB.
