Should democracy be scrapped in India?

take our PPP as a gift from your generous brothers from cross the border, PPP will give your democracy a whole new meaning ;)

We are fine with our democracy. We do not need any authoritarian regime - most of all, communism.

What we need is Presidential form of government instead of Parliamentary form with a form of power for the president to pass bills overriding the two houses(similar to veto but different) . We could not implement full reforms due to coalition politics. And the bill can be overturned by 2/3rds in each house(similar to veto power and overturning of it by U.S constitution).

Now people have started pointing fingers at the Democratic system of the country : facepalm:.After this someone will come up with the idea,we were better under British rule : epic-facepalm:

Even, I visited China many time. My experience is very different; moreover, I have close connections to Hong Kong, through people from western educated institutes. And what I hear from them is dramatically different.

On a visit, someone's impression China reflects who you are more than it reflects China itself.

I am Chinese in all ways, born and raised. Even I know that if you associate with negative people, China will seem like the worst hellhole on earth (because your friends make it that way), and if you associate with positive people, China will be a happy place (again because of your friends). This is because China has many problems due to being a developing nation, so there's plenty of negatives to focus on, but also because there's so much to do in China and so many opportunities, and the culture is one of cooperation rather than brutal competition, and people are generally nice.

You are a foreigner, so your experience may be different, and you might be a businessman, so your travels will take you to places like Dongguan or Yiwu where there are higher crime rates, lowly educated natives who got rich fast due to government policy and more migrant workers with low educations. There's no colleges in those cities, so there's not many professionals working there.

This hasn't much to do with rich or poor. Some of my rich classmates are never happy, wasted their lives on the computer and always complaining, some of the poor classmates whose first visit to the city was to go to college are happy and motivated.

Every system have good side and bad side but democracy have more good side than bad side.

India is an example of what a DEMOCRACY should not be like....

india needs to collectivize / socialize the land and distribute it equally to all indian citizens. Do away completely with the caste system, even at the cost of permanently changing hinduism doctrine. In short, a People's Republic of India.

You have no idea what the real problem in India is......the caste system has been abolished long ago.......and India is not ruled by Hindu doctrines......

The real problem is misuse of people's trust by our "democratically" elected leaders.....

The democratic system is flawed......and our "supreme" Parliamentarians are opposing any change with all their might which could correct these flaws.....like the introduction of the 'anti-corruption bill'...............if these flaws are corrected, then what will happen to their foreign bank balance.....

Even if PPP comes to India, the inherent checks and balances in Indian Constitution will reign in any self-serving designs/illusions the politicians may harbor. PPP is not your problem. Your constitution is.

On topic: No! Democracy should not and cannot be scrapped in India. No other system will work in India.

Hilliriious coming from an Indian where the BJP a nationalist religious Hindutva ideology has been in government.

Democracy means the will the of the majority. If one day the majority of Indians wanted sharia law or some other religous law it wouldn't be allowed. The whole concept in India and other nations is a farce.

It has been observed that Hindu nationalist leaders serve their country better than the so called "secular" leaders.....
A kind of nationalistic feeling(be it in the form of Hinduism) is necessary to do something good for the country......
Unless you feel for the country....you won't hesitate to loot it.....

This is why (Hindu) Nationalist leaders like Narendra Modi performed so well in his state.....and people fed up with rampant corruption are turning towards such leaders.....

So a better India would be a Hindu nation not a democracy?

So a better India would be a Hindu nation not a democracy?

Yes! according to STATISTICS....

By the way, a Hindu nation doesn't mean that it's not going to be a DEMOCRACY.........it may not be a SECULAR democracy........
