What's new

Shoot me, but I still won't sing Vande Mataram, says Muslim leader

. . .
I think only first two verses are adopted as National Song. Explicit ode to Goddess Durga comes in later verses.

So, if Govt clarifies to people that only first two verses are part of our national Anthem then nobody should have any problem

National song.

I think not , or may be , but its not prohibited . How ever bowing anyone is not allowed even prophet.
Worlds largest and populated Muslim nation Indonesia too have similar national anthem praising mother Indonesia.

Does Indian anthem mention hindu gods? Why?
No...it praises India as mother.

Translation by Shree Aurobindo

Mother, I bow to thee!
Rich with thy hurrying streams,
bright with orchard gleams,
Cool with thy winds of delight,
Dark fields waving Mother of might,
Mother free.

Glory of moonlight dreams,
Over thy branches and lordly streams,
Clad in thy blossoming trees,
Mother, giver of ease
Laughing low and sweet!
Mother I kiss thy feet,
Speaker sweet and low!
Mother, to thee I bow.

How many anthems India got? shouldnt it be one?

Why Muslims are objecting to this?

. . . .
What I ment by bow is sajdah.
Touching feet is not prohibited , but its not common practice .

I know what sajdah is.

My point is, when a Hindu speaks of bowing to his mother, it is akin to touching her feet.

Btw, we don't touch feet. It is completely culture incongruent for us.

But we do kneel and bow our forehead before God and His symbol of purity.

Much the same as was millennia later adopted by Islam as well.

Exactly as Islam's upturned palms, arms apart, looking upwards.

ISIS is already in India.

Political patronage too.

Dangerous times investing in India

Do Indian Muslims touch their parents and elders feet?
Not necessarily unless they want a massage.

Respect and love is given without many gestures.

On topic...

Good for him. But I don't mind singing it. It's a song. It's not like arthi and praying.

And both sides are making unnecessary tensions. Some right wing extremist will want Muslims to sing it.

Then there will some usuli muslim go abuse it. Then hell break loose.

I used to sing "Bhagdk bose de k:lol: and the 'I'm a hunter song" if I ever going to hell, then that will be the reason.

I meant how Hindus touch feet of parents and elders.
