Opposition to singing of Vande Matram is a recent issue raised by Muslim leaders to unite their fellow Muslims.

BTW as far as my memory works and i recall reading this hindu religious song had been having communal rifts even before partition.

Imposing it in fact is negation of Indian national anthem. If India constitutionally regain her Hindu identity then it would be fine to replace Indian national anthem jana mana with vande mataram.

This is our mistake. Jinnah carved out a country for those who felt they could live with non Muslims. And what did we do? We asked them to stay on. The proper exchange of populations was done only in Punjab.

We need to send Pakistanis to Pakistan or jannah or Dharma. In the 21st century no country should waste time on stupid medieval religious conflicts.

Prolly you don't know that in the name of secularism we are taught Kalma (Pehla Kalma if I'm not wrong).
So Muslims chant GAYATRI mantra and Hindus know Kalma in India.
I'm sure you're not aware of it and that you don't expect such things happening in your country.
Singing Vande Mataram is no big deal at all.

If you read my previous post, you'd know that the issue was not about calling the mother Lord, but the next verses which imply the mother being referred to are Hindu Goddesses. You are welcome to call God with whatever name you choose, that's none of my business.

But as @SOUTHie and@padamchen have clarified, the verses praising the Hindu Goddesses are not part of the modern version, and the mother being referred to is the motherland, i.e. India. Therefore, I don't see any reason why one can't sing it.
