Failure to back anti-terror operations haunts Nitish Kumar now

NEW DELHI: Bihar government's apparent reluctance to associate with anti-terror operations in the run-up to 2014 elections has come back to haunt it in the form of Gandhi Maidan blasts where it was caught napping. Even as the incident exposed security lapses at the rally venue, sources pointed to the Bihar government's overall attitude to security which has been found to be wanting.

Allegedly wary of stirring the terror pot ahead of 2014 elections, CM Nitish Kumar's government had in August refused to take custody of IM operative Ahmed Siddibappa alias Yasin Bhatkal even though Bihar Police played a significant role in his arrest from Nepal. Yasin was tracked by Intelligence Bureau to Pokhara and then arrested by a joint team of IB and Bihar Police.

However, after he was brought to Raxaul in Bihar, the state police refused to take his custody saying it had no cases against him. Ultimately, the central security set-up had to make a last minute call to National Investigation Agency (NIA) to take over the case.

Bihar's refusal to take Yasin's custody was intriguing as one of the most ferocious modules of Indian Mujahideen was raised by him in Darbhanga and Madhubani and several members of this module are still absconding. IM is also a suspect in the Bodh Gaya blasts.

Sources said apart from Bihar appearing to be dragging its feet on the security front, there were some deeply entrenched systemic problems with Bihar's security set-up. During the previous regime in the state, law and order suffered to such an extent that it had a debilitating impact on the police force which despite some good successes in Kumar's regime, will take time to be a fully functional and competent entity, sources said.

They added the fact that Bihar hadn't experienced a bomb blast in several years (except for the recent Bodh Gaya blasts) also added to the lack of preparedness and experience of the police force to deal with terror attacks.

As long as Indians continue to be 'secular' and hero worship scums like him, there is no hope.

Nitish complicity in this blast is so obvious, still there is a segment of Hindus in Bihar who will continue to vote for him. Muslims will of course continue to vote for him or lalu. Makes me wanna puke.

After Patna blasts, Home Minister Shinde attended music launch in Mumbai

The BJP has criticized Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde for attending a film related event in Mumbai on Sunday, even after the serial blasts at the site of Narendra Modi's rally in Patna, which killed six people and injured over 80.

On Sunday evening, Mr Shinde kept his date with the makers of a new Hindi film whose music was being launched at a function in a luxury hotel. The home minister also posed for photo-ops with the film's lead star Kangana Ranaut.

Mr Shinde faced a barrage of questions as soon as he stepped out. He said he had sent crack investigating teams to the spot and was getting regular updates from his officials on the blast investigations.

"Since the bomb blast at 9.30 am, I have been getting updates about the situation. I have spoken to the CM of Bihar a few times. In the afternooon itself I sent an NIA (National Investigation Agency) team and a bomb inquiry squad to Patna by plane," he told reporters.

But that failed to stop the flood of condemnation from BJP leaders, and even some tweeple.

"Blasts in Patna & Home minister Sushil Shinde enjoying dance at music launch of film Rajjo," was the subject of many tweets and re-tweets.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan tweeted: "Home minister launching music, when there were blasts in Patna. Now it's time for them to hear the music."

BJP leader Siddharth Nath Singh said, "When the rally, hosting 6 lakh people, happened; when serial blasts happened, major havoc could have spread. But rather than controlling the situation, (Mr Shinde) was launching music. This has become a habit of the Congress Home Minister and other ministers. Instead of paying attention to good governance, they pay attention to their clothes and to music," said BJP leader Siddharth Nath Singh.

Indian Muslim always vote for wrong ppl. They vote on pity issue..

They vote on religious issues. Nothing to do with pity, everything to do with communal politics practiced by the muslims since the days of Muhammed, Muslim League, to Indian Mujaheddin.

How can some ideology justify it... Its systematic killing of Non-Muslims... When this terrorism will end?

But good news is, we have nothing to worry. These were Low Intensity blasts..... so only 5 dead and 100 injured. Cheers. :D

When Hindus grow a spine.

Seriously. Do you see any other way ?
I disagree dude. We don't need to do tit for tat for every wrong doings. These terrorists have grown because of appeasement policy of our govt. We just need a very strong govt in centre for a long time(atleast 10-15 years) to control these menacs.
Eg- Gujarat was a hot bed of terrorists in early 2000s but we know how gujarat govt dealt with those terrorists.
