Reports indicate that over 250 Afghan migrants were killed by Iranian forces while attempting to enter Iran illegally in the Kalgan region of Sistan. This incident underscores the ongoing humanitarian crisis faced by many Afghans seeking refuge amid the instability in their home country.

Context of the Incident

The Iranian government has been stringent in enforcing its border policies, particularly in regions like Sistan and Baluchistan, where illegal crossings are common due to economic hardships and security concerns in Afghanistan. The area has seen increased tensions as Iranian authorities attempt to manage the influx of migrants while addressing domestic security issues.

Humanitarian Concerns

The high death toll from this incident raises serious humanitarian concerns. Many Afghans are fleeing Taliban rule, seeking safety and better living conditions. Reports suggest that Iranian border forces have been increasingly aggressive in their efforts to deter illegal crossings, leading to tragic outcomes for those desperate to escape their circumstances.

International Reactions

This incident is likely to draw international scrutiny, with human rights organizations expected to condemn the actions of Iranian forces. The situation calls for a reevaluation of border enforcement practices and a more humane approach to handling migrants, particularly those fleeing conflict and persecution.

Conclusion

The deaths of over 250 Afghan migrants highlight the urgent need for a comprehensive response to the humanitarian crisis affecting Afghanistan and its neighboring countries. As the international community watches closely, there is a pressing need for dialogue and action to address both the security concerns of nations like Iran and the dire circumstances faced by displaced individuals seeking refuge.

Another proof of the cheap value of life in this region. The West is superior in this respect. I have not heard the West shooting illegal immigrants, atleast not on this scale, even though the West has nothing in common with them.

You mean this why the west is such a shithole because of their tolerance to 3rd world immigrants and islamists?!.

There were no immigrants to the West from what is now called third world before imperialism. The colonized or imperialized countries became shitholes after colonization, producing reactionary nationalisms and oppressions which didn't exist before.

This part is also true.

There was also ancient Roman imperialism and colonialism in the Semitic and North African civilizations, which we tend to forget. Back then too, as a result those civilizations turned into 'shitholes', and Rome came to have a majority made of immigrants from the East (rise of the Khilafat reversed that).

'People from the city's (Rome's) earliest eras ... resembled other Western Europeans. But during the imperial period most sampled residents had Eastern Mediterranean or Middle Eastern ancestry. At that time, "Rome was like New York City … a concentration of people of different origins joining together," says Guido Barbujani, a population geneticist at the University of Ferrara in Italy'.

Spread of Christianity, along with Eastern Roman Christian imperialism, brought the ancient Egyptian culture to a total end.

'Egyptian temples were ordered closed by the Byzantine emperor and the last known hieroglyphic inscription (at Philae) was carved in 394 C.E.'
