Senior Israeli archaeologist casts doubt on Jewish heritage of Jerusalem

On the alleged Temple of Solomon, Finkelstein said that there is no archaeological evidence to prove it really existed.

A senior archaeologist at Tel Aviv University has cast doubt on the alleged Jewish heritage of Jerusalem. Israel Finkelstein's claims have been made in the face of official Israeli and biblical claims to the occupied city.

Professor Finkelstein, who is known as "the father of biblical archaeology", told the Jerusalem Post that Jewish archaeologists have found no historical or archaeological evidence to back the biblical narrative on the Exodus, the Jews' wandering in Sinai or Joshua's conquest of Canaan. On the alleged Temple of Solomon, Finkelstein said that there is no archaeological evidence to prove it really existed.

According to Finkelstein's university colleague, archaeology lecturer Rafi Greenberg, Israel is supposed to find something if it digs for a period of six weeks. But, Greenberg told the Jerusalem Post, Israelis have been excavating the so-called City of David in the occupied Jerusalem neighbourhood of Silwan for two years to no avail.

Professor Yoni Mizrahi, an independent archaeologist who has worked with the International Atomic Energy Agency, agreed with Israel Finkelstein. He said that the right-wing Elad Association has not found anything "saying welcome to David's palace" although that was taken for granted by Elad, as if the group depended on scriptural texts to guide them in their work.

Bit of a tall claim in the thread title. Sure, ruins of David's palace have been suspected to be in the Silwan area for some time. Not finding it doesn't "cast doubt on the Jewish heritage of Jerusalem."

Sayonara.

Archealogy and history are sciences, aren't they? Unlike religion, they require more than blind faith and staunch statements of conviction to establish truths. You can't keep on making historical claims over the land, if nothing concrete ever materializes in their support. Until then, Jews' claim over the land remains in the realm of the religious, the mythical, the untruthful.

Once I reach 15 posts I will be able to post links and when I do that people will get a different idea of the farce of the "Israeli" "state".

Well recently a DNA analysis proved that Ashkenazi Jews are not indigenous to Israel apart from some admixture.

I suggest reading the book called "The Invention of the Jewish People" by Shlomo Sand - a Jew himself. See the link below for the full book.

The recent DNA study from January this very year:

AFP: Gene study settles debate over origin of European Jews

Trust me I do not hate Jews as a people I only have a strong dislike for the Zionistic element that Israel was founded upon. Jews (the real ones - mostly Sephardic Jews) are fellow Semitic people (whether we Arabs, Jews included, like it or not) and we have more similarities than we both would like to admit.

We Arabs and real Jews (not so-called "Jews" from Europe who immigrated to Israel recently and spread their Zionism) lived largely peacefully for centuries from Palestine to Yemen in the south. There was even a significant Jewish diaspora/population in Saudi Arabia before the appearance of Islam.

Anyway 70 years of Zionist rule has destroyed much.

God bless you, I was looking for people like you to refute the lies of Israelis here...

It is indeed interesting...but this would prove much of the Qu'ran false as well.

Norman Finkelstien = Daniel Pipes of ME .

And i agree with DNA study . If anyone can Claim Israel its Sephardic Jews not the Ashkenazi Jews .

Here's a Interesting nugget of History

In an essay on Sephardi Jewry, Daniel Elazar at the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs summarized the demographic history of Ashkenazi Jews in the last thousand years, noting that at the end of the 11th century, 97% of world Jewry was Sephardic and 3% Ashkenazi; in the mid-17th century, "Sephardim still outnumbered Ashkenazim three to two", but by the end of the 18th century, "Ashkenazim outnumbered Sephardim three to two, the result of improved living conditions in Christian Europe versus the Ottoman Muslim world." By 1931, Ashkenazi Jews accounted for nearly 92% of world Jewry.

If the archaeologist had said anything to support Jewish heritage of Jerusalem, the OP wouldn't have posted this :agree:

And opposite is true for you . Everyone barring a few great posters come on this forum with perception set in stone and their own agenda .

. .
Jews do have a heritage in Jerusalem, that is not in doubt. If someone does not believe their stories they can just refer themselves to Roman accounts of their wars. Romans had no reason to make things up. Besides their heritage is not the real problem here, the problem was the fake Jews of Europe as many have pointed out.

Oh yeah and Solomon's temple did exist once and Al Aqsa was built on its former location, so that is why they cannot find ruins. Although I read somewhere they were digging under the mosque, don't know how much truth is in that.

.
what real and substantial proof is there for existance of moses, jesus and muhammad. ;)
