What's new

Scottish Independence Refrendum, polls open

Glassgow reported, slight gain for YES. Still holding at about 150k difference.

Its 9pm where i am, don't India and Pakistan have to go to work about now? :-)
No work for me for 7 days. Have taken leave and come to visit my Mom.

YES: 1,068,002
NO: 1,244,032
or about 180k by my math, from the Guardian.

Beeb is ahead of the Guardian.

Target to win is silly - not everyone voted, so you can win with less than half the electorate.

actually, BBC and Guardian are both reporting 24 of 32, but with different numbers. BBC has No further ahead.

Yeah, this is over. 1.1 million outstanding, Yes needs to get +200k out of that. Meaning an 60-40 split. Not gonna happen.

In Glasgow, "Police are investigating ten cases of electoral fraud."

Voters turned up at polling stations to find that people had already voted using their names.

Police officers have remove the ballot papers concerned.

The papers were from 10 different boxes across Glasgow, and not concentrated in one area.

In Dundee, a fire alarm led to the evacuation of the building where the vote was being counted. http://www.mirror.co.uk

The county known as Clackmannanshire was expected to vote YES.

But it was announced that NO had got 54% of the vote in Clackmannanshire.

Scottish independence: Yes County votes No

This alone is reason of concern that many scotish who may be living in Mainland England now due to work or any other reasons cannot participate in votes even if they were born in Scotland

According to this almost a Million Scotish voters are not elligible to vote ?
And folks who may be of British origion who happen to reside in Scotland can vote...

Its like subtracting 700k votes from scotland , and then adding 500k votes who might be british for all we know its like scotland is starting the elections (-1,500,000 or -1.5 million) votes, and yet they have narrowed it down that difference to just mere 150k votesm in reality the Scotish Yes Voters are up by 1.27 Million votes if we really remove the Handicap factor

The actual scotish population may have been in favor of independence by 51% to 49% ratio however the above vote dilution , may be aiding to modify the effects of the election in other direction

Fairly questionable stats , these figures make a difference between the figures in final outcome are very close

The union will remain.

Time to punish the Scots for their insolence.

Cut off their water supply!! Just like what Musharraf did to Baluchistan.

It was expected , but the whole 49%-51% thing had me curious , usually poles are never this close

Edinburgh 60% no. Its over. No is +340k with 567k votes outstanding. Yes would need 70% of the remaining votes - more with lower turnout.
