What's new

Say something nice about the country the person above you is from!

Ah, just as well... You'd have to move to Sough for Roadwars. That's still very cool... Local beat bobbies (please don't attempt to read that wrong!) are very smiley and kind. Well, I might see you patrolling on the streets of Manchester one day then! Mate I don't know any cops personally, so I'm calling you if things go south! :yahoo:

Haha, don't know if I can do you any favours. But if you ever want a tour of the police museum, drop me a PM :).

. . .
Mate I'm just special constable (volunteer police officer) I do that in addition to my regular job. Once I complete my post grad let's see if any vacancies pop up for full time police officer roles with the force.

I am a beat officer and do foot patrols :). So the chances of seeing me on something cool like roadwars are zero, lol.

Omg awesome, you have great taste!

Thank you my friend across the Atlantic :)

Speaking of the UK..

There was a film in the early 70s out called Dracula A.D. 1972. I think it was one of, if not the last film where Christopher Lee portrayed Dracula.

The story was about Dracula being awoken in then modern-day 1972 London. He would then have his final showdown with the descendant of Abraham Van Helsing.

Not very highly regarded in horror circles, but the nerd in me really liked the flick.

Yes that is a cult classic here because of Sir. Christopher Lee, if you liked that please consider watching Life Force 1984, Dark Crystal 1982 and The Gorgon 1964. I believe the first two are on Netflix. I don't know if you are into animation but there a beautiful British animation about war and nuclear fallout titled When the Wind blows, do give it a look see :).

I find northerners friendly compared to us London folk. I also find Manchester to be a cool city, wish I could go back in time and have done my undergraduate here. The uni is amazing and so central, one bus and you are in town, one bus and you are back on campus.

The only thing I can't stand about Manchester are the football fans. Can't stand the game, I'm more into ice hockey and baseball. :). Blame my American friends back in secondary school.
manchester is not even north if you ask a northerner, lancashire and above is north (in my opinion)
i dont like football too i prefer f1 if you consider that a sport.

Lancashire is a beautiful county, love the Northern accent especially Bolton on wards... Call me strange, and yes F1 is awesome, I remember legends like Coulthard, Hill and Hakkinen.

I'm originally from Islington in London, moved up to Manchester right after University. Love it :). How about you?

so are you still a southern fairy? im from east lancashire
Manchester comes in Lancashire.
I'm in the same boat as our friend here and to be honest London's the place to live.
The one thing I find weird to this day about the North is that no one goes to the park, Londoners love their parks for some reason and I miss it.

The Swedes have exceptional queueing skills

That's true...if you've 3 or more Swedes mostly they will automatically line up..They learn this skill in the schools and then see everyone practicing it in real life.

I think the parks thing depends on where you live. I live in an area around Bury which is semi rural and there is a large beautiful country park called Heaton Park, it is very busy most days.

Some Parts of Manchester have anti social behaviour issues, so parents avoid parks. Areas such as Wythenshawe.

Also Manchester is its own county now, the county of Greater Manchester. :)
