Saudis reportedly plan to invest $40 billion in US infrastructure

Nice one. :)

Why are some of you people on here so mad at KSA for investing THEIR money in U. S infrastructure?
Do you guys think that they are doing this for charity? It's obviously because they expect a high ROI from this investment. The Saudis have the world's second largest sovereign wealth fund, they have a been investing in many countries around the world. So I don't see issue with investing in the U.S. After all, the U. S is the world's largest FDI stock recipient for a good reason you know
. For example Britain followed by Japan, Germany are the largest investors in the US, China and to a lesser extent India are also increasing their investments in the U.S. So using some people's logic on here, all these countries are just waisting thier money isn't it?:)
Your comparison doesn't make any logic. You are comparing British US relation vs Saudi British relations. Till late 1980 US foreign policy was very influenced by Britain and still. Same goes with Germany. Plus, Britain and Germany are two purely democratic society and lot more ....
No one is jealous , actually KSA govt always try to win US favor in any form for security. And when one adopt such policy then all type of acts are expected and in any form .

Well, my point was that Saudi Arabia is investing in U.S infrastructure not because of charity or whatever some people on here say. It's simply business and Saudi officials/shareholders in these companies must have seen a fruitful market for their investments and a high return on investment . It's simply business and we live a globalised world. If some delusional people want to live in a closed system like North Korea , Iran or China pre1980 then it's their business. So far I will say KSA and gulf states have done quite well on the economic front as they are quite business friendly (especially the gulf states). It's no wonder they are by far the richest countries in the Muslim world, while their neighbours live a miserable live while fleeing to the west at the slightest opportunity they get.
A quick visit to these gulf countries will open many people's eyes, comparing them to other countries in the Muslim world it's like night and day.
The only thing I will say KSA and gulf states need to focus on is social , religious and political reforms ,plus also shifting away from reliance on oil and gas sector towards more high tech sectors, manufacturing industry and indegenisation. Once they sort these out then the sky is the limit for them.
However I will say they are doing far better than most countries in the Muslim world (including those members criticizing Saudis Arabia on here. Lol ). :)
