You can cry about the rulers of the GCC while this region is the richest and most stable in the Muslim world (best HDI index, biggest GDP per capita (nominal) by far, best living standard overall, best infrastructure, best free social welfare states, lowest taxation, free education, healthcare, sponsored studies abroad, smallest crime rates, almost no sectarian/ethnic conflict etc.) and a thriving region on all fronts in general where people are progressing on all fronts despite challenges like anywhere else in the developing world.

At least KSA and Gulf states got one thing right i.e their citizens live a very decent life(they don't seek asylum abroad unlike failed states in the region). So i will say Saudi Arabia and other gulf states leaders have done quite well economically, cant say the same for many countries in the Muslim world unfortunately.

Can you guys stop arguing about what the Saudis do with their money? It doesn't matter because they are after profits. Profits that will go to actual useful things in the middle east like free education for the Saudi people, more investments in Arab countries, supporting Syrian refugees and so on. People should stop complaining about how people get their money.

It's called hitting the geological lottery and having favorable demographics to sustain a high standard of living. i.e. small population. In contrast to resource poor countries in the region. I'm pretty sure Yemenis and Syrians would be living the good life if they had similar economic circumstances.

The VAST MAJORITY OF 'POOR' DEVELOPING COUNTRIES are rich in natural resources(some even more than KSA) and yet their people live a miserable life,can't afford their basic needs, live in poverty, high unemployment and lack of opportunities leading them to flee abroad for greener pastures. In short you can have ALL THE NATURAL RESOURCES(oil,gas, diamond, gold , uranium etc etc) but if your leaders don't manage it properly or do so recklessly then the people will hardly benefit from their natural endowment/resources to. we can see this in Iraq and Iran(one of the world's largest oil and gas reserves), Venezuela(world's largest oil reserves), Nigeria, Algeria, Congo(some call it the world's most richest country in terms of natural resources) etc etc. People from these countries still immigrate abroad to Western countries for greener pastures and for a better life for various reasons.
So it's not just about having the natural resources but knowing how to use it, being open, having a vision /objectives, being pragmatic and spreading the countries wealth to the general population.

Why are some of you people on here so mad at KSA for investing THEIR money in U. S infrastructure?
Do you guys think that they are doing this for charity? It's obviously because they expect a high ROI from this investment. The Saudis have the world's second largest sovereign wealth fund, they have a been investing in many countries around the world. So I don't see issue with investing in the U.S. After all, the U. S is the world's largest FDI stock recipient for a good reason you know
. For example Britain followed by Japan, Germany are the largest investors in the US, China and to a lesser extent India are also increasing their investments in the U.S. So using some people's logic on here, all these countries are just waisting thier money isn't it?
