"Saudia Arabia says days of unconditional foreign aid are now over"

These people have become addicted to aid. I said this years ago on another defence forum. My assessment was right then. It is also right today. The generals want easy money and equipment. Military and economic aid.

Our Dutch disease

.
Love it. I wish our leaders could utter this.

It should be the extended hand that should pull back first instead of the giving hand saying, enough!

As hideous as this may sound, economic hardship is the only thing that will wake this nation up to rely on itself and hold our leaders accountable for the economic misery we find ourselves in.
@VCheng will give you a big hug for saying that :D

The aid rarely go's where its most needed. Better to stop it to cut off the corrupts supply of cash until a decent government doesn't come to power who are not corrupt.

The corrupt generals and politicians live for aid. Of course aid should stop in all it's manifestations.

@hydrabadi_arab

Refusing the KSA request to support them militarily when they were under Houthi attack was a Himalayan blunder on part of Pak.

Regards
It was not the refusal itself.. It was the way it was done.. by bashing saudia in national assembly.. esp. by the commie idiot with ponytail from ppp. There was no point in taking this to NA.
Pakistan was on multiple fronts and had a genuine case that they would have understood..
Regardless I believe the decision may have more to do with SAs internal dynamics.

.
A very good development. This colonial beggar establishment didn't help KSA in yemen because of US pressure, and then have the audacity to beg for dollars from KSA. Even the US gave nothing after using these dumb generals like tissues.

.
I don't remember Saudi Arabia ever giving us Aid. That was happening back in the 1980s with encouragement from the USA.

What they offer is "soft loan", "oil on deferred payments", "transfer funds in the bank to boost reservers" etc.
You don't remember because you were probably toddler in 90s and early 2000s.
Just thinking about the audit report on how much we owe towards SA in deferred payments gives me chills.

I remember their aid after the nuclear test but refrained from mentioning to keep the post short.

But most of the Aid that you are talking about is incorrect reporting in the media. It has always been the “soft loan” or “buy oil now pay later” like terms and conditions. We have always paid back the loan the media used to report as “aid”.

PS: No I was not a toddler, in fact I was present on this forum in 2005 onward arguing about the same that the media incorrectly report loan as aid.

Pretty sure i heard somwhere about 50,000 bpd of FREE oil prior to conducting tests to avoid fallout from sanctions.

of what? Your suggestion is like how to become rich - get a lot of money.

Just copy Vietnam

How shameful it is for our country!

A country that's 75 years old doesn't have a billion dollars of its own.

We have given too much respect to the PMA graduates who were supposed eto protect us but formed alliance with the thieves and instead turned against us.

Expats and remittances or not, Pakistan needs a complete reset otherwise Pakistan will only remain Pakistan in name and that too under the same ineffective, corrupt, parasitic and by large incompetent neutrals and their political henchmen and so-called business elites, while the awam will continue to be blind sheep and struggle to make ends meet as usual.

Lasting change only comes from within. Look at how much KSA changed just within a few years, mostly for the good. From the top (requires good and brave leadership) and down and now those changes have taken root among the people and made them hungrier for more positive change. They demand more from themselves and the country.

Why is there no Pakistani of power, whether military, business or clergy, that dares to speak the truth and call for even a minimal of change and reform?

I am excluding some progressive elements within PTI and the usual suspects who are attacked or even killed for trying to.

Why is it that the same problems facing Pakistan keep repeating themselves with seemingly no genuine public outrage to the degree of forcing change upon the decision makers? It is as if the Pakistani nation was a sleep and slowly but steadily moving towards a certain death/collapse.

I don’t understand anything any longer. New generations and the same **** as usual.
Imran Khan talks about it. He's at the forefront. So all powers including military are now against him.

It's so easy to see now than ever before. But there are among us who still don't want to see.

It's people who need to get out. We can't have our country if we don't get out. Imran gave us directions. Now we have to walk in that direction. Pakistan has no future if we don't get rid of these parasites.

Pakistan should be exporting over $400 billion and have no need for aid or donations. Get to work.
True but our elite only looks at getting charity. There has never been serious attempt at industrialization. Only time was under PTI tenure.

Only thing that can save this country is someone in the establishment/ISI/Army who is an intelligent nationalist and makes a stand for the required changes. Right now they primarily care about running their businesses even if it comes at the expense of the country, they don't care for Pakistan, they address things only when it's boiling over in a half-assed manner.

Pakistan's problems are at a deep societal level. People are corrupt to the core, don't care for merit at all, practice extreme nepotism where the most unqualified fools can end up as the leaders of national insitutions. We are being killed from the inside by a cancer which is of our own moral bankruptcy.

Only a revolutionary at the top can make deep societal changes to adapt a new cultural environment where generations of competent and honest children can be raised to lead to country in the future.
