The Unmanned Ground Vehicle "Unmanned Saudi Arabian Defender 1" "USAD1"

The head of research in communication and information technology department in King Fahad University Dr.Mansour Al-Dajjani that he along with a number of researchers and they are Dr.Mustafa Shafeei from Matrix Engineering and Dr.Naser Marah from Mechanical Engineering and Dr.Abdulhafeez Bahrawah from Computer Science Engineering have developed a vehicle which can be controlled from distance which can be used in Security and Military missions for recon and logistics and integrate a home designed camera which can transfer voice and video from the scene and can be turned 360 degrees and the vehicle can be used to distance military and security personnel from danger locations, And he added the vehicle is equipped with 4 specialty cameras which transfer live data to crews.
He added that the second capability of this vehicle is the ability to engage targets without having to risk soldiers lives. Adding that the vehicle is designed to carry small arms and change cartridge for maximum number of ammo. Also he explained that the Vehicle can be controlled by a command and control center in a nearby truck with it it can direct the vehicle to do its various missions and engage targets and complete operations. Emphasising that the biggest benefit is to reduce soldiers exposure to danger in the field.
And on the beginning of the idea he said they got the inspiration from a couple of years ago when our soldiers were fighting terrorists saying the project begun as a student's project with a primitive design but we continued to improve upon it until it reached this point but we are continuing to improve upon it now.
And the biggest hurdle faced by the team he said while they are improving the vehicle is energy supply of the vehicle and increasing its effective range he said right now the range is a few kilometers but it is under continues improvements to increase the range even further he said also they have designed more than a single source of energy for it because it requires a lot of energy due to the computers installed on the vehicle and he said the project has been named "Unmanned Saudi Arabian Defender 1" in English so its acronym USAD1 will means "Lion 1" in Arabic.
And he also put great Emphasis on that the project will not stop on USAD1 but there will be USAD 2 and 3 and other projects we will work with the technology we developed because of this project.
