ISLAMABAD: Saudi Arabia’s Minister on Religious Affairs Sheikh Saleh bin Abdul Aziz has said that those talking about mediation in Yemen conflict are not ‘right’ and should review their statements.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Geo News to be aired Wednesday evening, he expressed his desire that the Pakistani government would join hands with the coalition of Islamic Arab countries and send its troops to fight against Houthi rebels in Yemen.

The Saudi minister claimed that Houthi rebels were inflicting atrocities with weapons, adding that his country only decided to attack them as a result.

Lashing out at Iran, he claimed the country was doing in Yemen what it did in Syria and Iraq in the past. He vowed to stop this Iranian ‘intrusion’ at all costs.

“Iran spread an atmosphere of lawlessness and instability in these countries and for that it will have to be accounted for,” he said.

Sheikh Saleh further said that Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries have serious reservations over the recently inked nuclear pact between Iran and the West.

The detailed interview can be watched at 7:05pm on Wednesday

Just how bad do they want us to join against a bunch of towel heads? You can kill them without our help....

Pakistan should refrain from sending troops.Resolving crisis by diplomatic way is the best solution.

. . .

Pakistan will not join in Yemen, Iraq or Syrian sectarian civil wars. Nawaz Sharif sent mixed signal to Saudi Arabia and its coalition and that is the reason why the Saudi coalition feels betrayed. If we don't get aid from these Persian Gulf states then lets live frugally. When one door closes another opens. Pakistan should also end interfering in Afghanistan civil war and end support of Talibans. Pakistan must stay neutral.

It is simple. They don't want our pipeline to succeed that consists of Turkey, Iran, Pakistan and China. Without Iran, Turkey cannot connect to Pakistan to China. Iran is very crucial part of it as much as Pakistan and others. Plus, our pipeline is direct threat to Dubai pipeline in term of competitive world, hence Karachi is in ruins which was posed as major threat to Dubai at one point.

They clearly want to undermine Pakistan's relationship with Iran. Anything else is bonus for KSA. Besides, despite of the resources KSA posses, it is yet to be cleared whether its army can be effective or not. As we know, its army is quite inexperienced, and untested in covert wars.

I don't know if you have been in the country recently. But there's a lot of support for sending troops to KSA locally, many mosques (with associated Madarsa) are hanging banners openly supporting such an action of course without having any regard for long-term national security and interests of the country. In Islamabad, the Prime Minister finds himself in a very difficult position, he cant openly refuse the Saudi Arabian order for obvious reasons and he cant go against the resolution of the parliament which will expose the true state of democracy in the country. Interesting days ahead for the petro-Mullahs and leaders loyal more to Arabs than the Arabs themselves.

Perhaps a middle ground can be reached. The Pakistani government can abstain from the conflict but allow anyone who wishes to go fight there a free pass.. Let all the Mullahs including those on Pdf go..fight it out there.. and all the Pakistani government has to do is refuse them return. Call it a mission impossible force, disavow any knowledge of their existence or actions.

I agree with the fact that Iran is a threat in the region & they are trying their very best o create instability in the region. Iran can never be trusted what so ever.

Pakistan should support this on going conflict against Yemeni houtis, but should not deploy troops on ground at any cost. If Pakistan decides to go, then it should be only aerial support to the Arab army, nothing more.

At the same time it is true corrupt politicians are scared & worried for their illegal Business empires setup in Arab countries, so if it was for them to decide then they would had thrown PA in Yemen, but our PA & Gen. Raheel knows whats right & he is doing the right thing.
