It is very much possible. Gen. Raheel Shareef is a thorough professional who led one of the best armies in the world and routed a fourth gen war on multiple fronts i.e. FATA, Baluchistan, and Karachi in addition to addressing the threat from the terrorist and rogue army of India in the east and RAW + NDS in the west. Thus it is not a surprise if Saudians asked his recommendations about their new COAS who can work alongside him in the coalition and also counter a plethora of threats to KSA. After KSA is the custodian of the holiest sites of Islam and it must be secured from threats.

In side Saudia they changed 30-40 Internal ministry jobs on Basis of their King's decree (inside scoop). New Prince / officials were appointed in Local key positions

There's no "Sunni-Shia" divide. It's "Iran vs Arabs" divide that predates Islam. Modern Sunni vs Shia conflict is a byproduct of Persians vs Arabs conflict.
