Saudi Arabian youth and the importance of exercise and active participation

@Yzd Khalifa

لاكون صادق معك, الحياة بالسعودية صعبة للمرأة, زميلتي بالعمل اشتغلت في جامعة بالرياض وكانت تجربة صعبة جدا. ان شاء الله الامور تتحسن للافضل عندكم

This is not really the case always and it is getting better for each day. Most don't have problems. Anyway my friend you will see yourself and then be the judge.

Also guys why was our Arabic thread deleted - the thread we used to write in Arabic? Why is it gone? I am afraid to get an infraction if I make posts that contain Arabic although I did it in this thread, LOL. I hope that the moderators today are forgiving.

Being a Professor in the US requires a lot of Patience. Most College Students are respectful and defer to their Professors ( about 80%). But a minority are lazy and even a smaller minority (5%) can be quite Challenging.

But it is the Good Students who make it Worthwhile to teach.

So as a Professor you have to learn to " bite your tongue " with that one odd student in the class who constantly pushes your buttons and this is where your patience pays off.

Also, some students are extremely slow and you have to be patient with them and try different approaches to help them understand complicated concepts. A good amount of PATIENCE and COMPASSION go a long way in solving problems.

It is really the same kind of Patience and compassion you need with your own children , so thinking of your students as your own kids helps a lot.

Some of our laws in the Arab world are not good. I hope it changes. Anyway I need to go. Breaking my fast in a few minutes (15 minutes).;) Here fasting is nearly 19 hours!

Today it was 31 degrees Celsius and it was VERY humid!

I admire the discipline with fasting.
Im agnostic, so I dont fast or anything.
But I tried it once. It was very hard. When I finally did get to eat and drink, everything tasted 10 times better than otherwise. Even water tasted so good. I stuffed myself and got stomach ache after

Well, unfortunately even some Muslims forget the meaning of fasting and Ramadan in this day and age because they eat so much and sleep all day long afterwards.

Yes, usually you have such symptoms the first few days. But afterwards your body gets used to it. The human body is a marvelous machine. I usually don't eat much and I can last hours without food and water on normal days but even during Ramadan, especially during summer like this and were the days are really long you can feel it even when your body gets more used to it.

Also did you hear about that Danish woman who ran 1 marathon (42,2 km) every day for a whole year after she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 3 years ago. It was on Danish TV for quite a few days 2-3 weeks ago or so.

It even made headlines all over the world.

Danish woman runs 366 marathons in 365 days | Fox News

Also if you are in Denmark as I am now (Copenhagen) then you must have experienced the heat today and unusual humidity. Hardest day to fast in while I was in Denmark here by far.

EDIT: I just googled Danish woman runs marathon and the first link was from Fox News. I don't follow that channel or any American news apart from CNN on rare occasions, LOL. Just before I get accused of something.

I can also go very long without eating. I think I could get used to fasting. That one time I did, it was very straining though. I think because I did not drink anything. I got a massive migrane haha

One of my best friends in Denmark is Muslim from Somalia. Very devout and he fasts. I sometimes tease him, when I go to visit, by snacking on a chocolate bar. He gets very irritated lol
It takes a lot of discipline.

Anyway Im in Sweden right now, and not in Denmark.

My mom mentioned something about that woman. Thats crazy!

@al-Hasani @Yzd Khalifa what is the average salary of a college Professor in Jeddah and Riyadh ?

Just curious.

I am afraid that I can't answer this question with full accuracy or authority. Although what I can do is ask persons who would know and come back to you. Preferably with some links.

If you want to teach for some time in KSA then I can highly recommend KAUST. By far.

You can read about the university here below on their homepage.

King Abdullah University of Science and Technology

Well, millions if not over 1 billion fast and they can do it then I am sure that you can too since you are probably healthy and young.

LOL. Yeah, I know Somalis very well. Many of them in Yemen and they are really good people overall. Some of their traditions, such as circumcision of women I find very disturbing though but I guess that we all have our weaknesses and Somalians are no expectation.

Oh, ok. Where in Sweden if I may ask? Malmoe or Stockholm? If it is Southern Sweden then you would have experienced the same insane humidity. But it seems you are much further north, LOL.

Yes, it really is. Can't believe how this is possible with a diagnosis that is named multiple sclerosis. That's one horrible disease.

It depends on what Uni are you teaching at, private Unis don't offer as much as what the Gov't funded Uni. I did my B.A. at KSU, we had had aplenty of Pak Profs :pakistan: most of them came from Western countries and don't want to come back, you can make $4000 + free housing.
