Dude maybe having Pakistani students sign Government bonds to come to KSA for higher education financed by the KSA Government in return for providing services back to the Kingdom by working there for the next 5 years. Just like what the Singapore Govt. does.

And then the entire Saudi population will rise in revolt. Limited university seats is one of the biggest population grievances against the government, if there is any extra university seat it should go to nationals, the competition for university seats for high school graduates is down right sad. 40,000 apply for 200 college seats sad. And you are saying bring students from Pakistan??

.
Yes.....! :D
@BLACKEAGLE : Does Jordan allow Dual Nationality ? :what:

Nope, love it or leave it...:azn:

From all over the Muslim World & pump qualified Human Resource into the Saudi Economy who, after graduating, give more than enough back to the Saudi Economy making it a knowledge driven economy thats exponentially more industrialized than it is right now or would otherwise be !

Take the best & the brightest from the Muslim World !

But if the University seats are as chronic as you say there are then obviously that wouldn't work.

.
I'm glad to hear that but its those seminaries along with the Iranian Cultural Centres in Iraq, Pakistan & in Afghanistan that created a sh*t storm for the people therein.

I'm glad that this is subsiding !

If there is anything of the sort in Pakistan it is not due to Saudi government at all. In fact religious nutcases and extremists are angry at King Abdullah for stopping the funding that Fahad did. And some political think tanks attack this policy because it is weakening KSA's foreign influence in favor of Iran which is governmental supporting such things.

I wonder if his bet on education will pay off or not.

Last year 60,000 applied for Taif University's freshman general science year and only 1500 were accepted. Yes, giving it to forieginers won't bode well with the public.

Dude I was referring to the Afghan Jihad & the early '90s - Those seminaries are still there; I dunno whether they get any funding or not but the BS dogma that we taught them, you financed them & the CIA trained them, is deeply entrenched in those areas & its going to take another decade or so before normalcy is restored.

And the Education policy will pay off - It always does ! Nothing liberates a person more than the ability to think !

Armstrong: I am all for inviting Muslims from all over the world to KSA. After all KSA is the highest recipient of Muslim immigrants/migrants in the world. But the government has already acknowledged that this cannot go on in the long given that the people are non-nationals and will return to their homelands at some point. At least the vast majority although there is a problem of illegal migrants who stay even after their visas have expired and who marry other illegal immigrants etc. It's not good for the society in the long run.

The Saudi population is growing rapidly. Local Saudis get more children than any other Arab country according to the recent statistics I have seen. Only Yemen is close from what I remember reading. KSA is a very rich country - among the most wealthy but we can't continue to house immigrants and expect the same benefits to continue forever for all people.

That is why there have been thousands of different projects since 2005 that aim to make Saudi Arabia dependent on oil/gas income in the near future and obviously the education which is among the best in the region not to mention exchange projects/cooperations that have enabled thousands of Saudis to study at the best universities across the globe. At the same time high quality universities have been constructed in recent years with qualified teachers/professors from all over the world.

There have been many threads on all these new developments from the government and you can google more if you like.

Also I believe that donations will continue to come but in lesser numbers and the government will be more cautious. After all we are in the middle of a financial crisis and although KSA is among one of the most stable countries in the world economically they are not immune either.

Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are natural allies both will defend each other irrespective of all.

may Allah protect both from the evil eyes.

Saudi Arabia has proven time and again it will never leave its brothers alone and Bosnia is a good example.

Also in terms of exporting ideological propaganda then Iran is in a different league altogether. Basically that is all that the Iranian regime has left given that they are very much a failed state with poverty, unemployment, growing frustration, extremely high inflation, isolation, sanctions etc.

So yes, their only staunch allies are the Iranian founded Hezbollah, a few insignificant Shia militias in Iraq and a few allies here and there in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

But given it's size Qatar beats all in terms of investments in foreign lands/firms.

@al-Hasani : Bro, perhaps I'm not able to articulate myself well enough !

(a) No aid, no donations...no nothing of the sort is needed ! The rest of us can only learn to stand up for ourselves & with our dignity intact if all of that stops.

(b) What I suggested was what the Americans, the British or some of the more developed countries do - Attract the best & the brightest from across the world by providing them with scholarships, handsome stipends & salaries & then use their expertise, competence & attitude to make valued added additions to the US Economy whether it be by coming up with innovative research, best governed corporations etc.

Likewise, if there are enough Universities in KSA, which as @Mosamania tells me there aren't, perhaps KSA, Turkey & Indonesia/Malaysia some of the up & coming economies of the world can do as well by attracting the best & the brightest from across the world & in particular the Muslim World !

There won't be a significant cultural clash because of a similar religion & religion does leave an indelible mark on one's culture & the dividends accrued in terms of building goodwill would be enormous in addition to the obvious benefits of having some of the most competent Muslim minds out there working for you !

Just a suggestion....nothing definitive !
