Saudi Arabia declared Best-Governed Muslim State

Islamabad—Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been declared as the Best-Governed Muslim State of 2011 and Award in this regard will be conferred on Khadim Al-Haramain Al-Sharifain, King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud in the coming weeks.

The prestigious Award was instituted by the daily Pakistan Observer, which appears from five main cities of Pakistan simultaneously, in 2005 and it has been conferred on four Heads of State since then.

The Award has been conferred as per statement of the newspaper on account of King’s deep commitment to converting darkness into light, poverty into prosperity and rigidity into flexibility to change the face of Saudi Arabia and, more important than that, for his untiring efforts to promote world peace.

“Three international inter-faith conferences convened by the King in Makkah, Madrid and New York contributed a lot in promoting peace”, a press release of the Award Committee added.

The earlier Awards were received by four Heads of State at State ceremonies in their respective capitals and, now, the Editor-in-Chief, Pakistan Observer; Mr. Zahid Malik along with two former Foreign Ministers of Pakistan, who are associated with the high-profile Award Committee, will visit the Kingdom to confer the Award on the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

The Award-giving ceremony will be widely covered by the world media.

King Abdullah you deserve it. King Abdulaziz may have united the warring tribes but you are the one who built a real state. Salute.

As much as I dislike the rulers of Saudi Arabia and their pandering to the west.
I must admit that they did improve the country quite a bit, they could of done what Libya or Nigeria are doing now, but instead they invested in their people and brought up the level of the country.

1oo Billion Surplus per year is always great for running a nation great

If we had used our Coal reserves and Gas properly , perhaps we would be on list too but instead we got Zardari

They do pay Ransom to Ameircans and NATO with 10-15 billion / year for security but they still have enough cash to gove free education to people , and soft loans to young people

and biggest of all Gas Prices in Saudia are same as they were in 1970's have not changed a cent !!! :taz:

lol it could be best govern only but not Muslim State.

they are Richer & bit civilized Talibans.

Honestly, if it wasn't for King Abdullah, Saudis would have been in a crap state. It's thanks to this man that Saudis have leaped forward in every section of economy and society.

Gotta give credit where credit is due.

Well they did well

They had cash they setup industries by Investing Heavily in Power , Hydro , and Farming (imagine that farming in desert)

School , roads, hospitals etc

They spent the cash properly

Unlike our "Marshal Law friendly history"

We have more Natural Resources

a) Rivers
b) Coal Reserves
c) Gases
d) Minerals
e) Farm Land
f) People / Educated class
g) Open society
h) Tourist Friendly Locations K2, Kaghan valley , Indus Civilization sites etc

Yet we have failed because our Government (people have been chasing chair) while in Saudia its stable (Non Democratic) nation so all the BAD apples like Zardari don't get to the Chair nor their Gilani Sidekick

Pakistani Engineers have build the GULF .. if these people were given $$$ Our own cities would have been advance as Singapore or Japan

After 60's when Ayub Khan came our country has gradually went to the .. bins ... decade by decade

And it mainly becasue USA was able to convince different groups , that they are RIGHTFUL "Government" and supported by them

Mosamania What steps and measurements are being taken or should be taken so that the reforms of King Abdullah are not wasted and are continued so that Saudi Arabia develops into a modern , strong state? I heard that King's other brothers are really corrupt and they did alot of corruption in the times of King Fahd !

than the credit should be given to their Oil & its high prices.....

credit should be given to countries who did it with hardwork like Malaysia.

Most of their princes are hell-bent on spending money faster than paper catches on fire, however King Abdullah is the only one with enough common sense to think about "tomorrow".

May be King Abdullah's effort should be praised or the work he did (due the uprising in ME countries) with highest budget surplus but the whole state or "Society" NO

obviously!!specially when Islam doesn't allow monarchy, They have driven the country's economy successfully and proved themselves a major global player

whoever has oil, there is no problem in money, only thing the Saudi Sultan never went crazy like Saddam Hussain creating confrontation with everyone in the neighborhood fighting costly wars and that's why Saudi Arabia always had stability.
