KACTS President Prince Turki bin Saud bin Mohammed Al Saud and Wan Gang, Chinese minister of science and technology, in Beijing after their meeting on Sunday.

Prince Turki's statement was sent to Arab News from Beijing, where he attended the G-20 Science, Technology and Innovation Ministers’ Meeting this week.
The meeting was a follow-up to one held by Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, second deputy premier and minister of defense, in Beijing in September.
In his speech as head of the delegation, the prince said that the Kingdom views innovation as a key to develop talent, technology, infrastructure, investment, institutions and programs needed to take the country forward in a balanced manner.

Such features, he said, could promote innovative projects, enhance patent and marketing programs, set up incubators, produce accelerators for ownership programs for small and medium enterprises and help set up industrial centers.
During his meeting with Wan Gang, Chinese minister of science and technology, the prince stressed the importance of boosting cooperation between the two countries in various promising areas such as water, energy and materials, biotechnology, space and aviation technologies, and the need to expand this cooperation significantly to include the areas of innovation, technology incubators, and the creation of small- and medium-sized enterprises in the two countries.
KACST recently set up the Saudi-Chinese Center for technology transfer to promote small- and medium-sized enterprises in accordance with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and the National Program 2020.

Earlier this year, Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Saudi Arabia and signed several bilateral agreements to launch a new phase in relations between the two countries. Fourteen cooperation agreements were signed in different fields, including the economic belt and Silk Road, nuclear and renewable energy, combating terrorism and culture and industry.
China and the Kingdom agree on the principle of noninterference in the internal affairs of other countries and are aligned in their positions on major international and regional issues.
Saudi Arabia is the world’s largest oil exporter and the largest trading partner of China among Arab and Muslim countries, while China is also the largest trading partner of the Kingdom.

Saudi Arabia and China sign security pact

Saudi Arabia and China have agreed to increase cooperation on security and counter-terrorism issues, following talks in Riyadh on Sunday between the two countries' leaders.

A five-year plan for security cooperation was signed between the two nations following talks involving King Salman al-Saud, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif and Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

This follows a deal struck between the two nations in August, when Mohammed bin Salman visited Beijing. This resulted in 15 preliminary agreements on areas ranging from housing to energy.

Saudi media outlets are touting the visit as part of the kingdom's economic overhaul which aims to reduce its reliance on oil experts.

To this end, Riyadh hopes that such visits will present the oil-rich kingdom as a hub for business and investment opportunities.

Last month, China and Saudi Arabia held their first joint military drills as part of Beijing's latest effort to strengthen ties with the Middle East.
China said it faces a growing threat from terrorism as its global footprint expands, as well as its diplomatic involvement in Middle Eastern affairs.

Members of each side's special forces took part in a fortnight of training focusing on combat skills and tactics near China's southwestern city of Chongqing.

Interesting development in Saudi-China relations. Cooperation in the civil sector is at its best status, what is new is the joint military exercises and the security cooperation, which's good and it's gonna deepen the ties between the two countries.

China has a modern army and strong military industry in which we can get both experience and military hardware or let's call it "weapons".:partay:

On the other hand, Saudi Arabia is a developing country with a growing economy and hungry for investments outside and inside the country. As the KSA is looking for diversifying its economy to reduce reliance on oil, China is a trusted partner and it can offer a lot of opportunities. KSA's Public Investment Fund will come up with a huge share capital around $2 trillion and big share of the PIF will be allocated for investments. We can invest in industry and open new factories either in China or KSA and with a contribution from the both sides we make a lot for our countries & people.

Cooperation between China and KSA isn't new, either in civil or military sector. Just it has to be deepened and things will be OK.

Very well said.:china:I really pray and hope that KSA's Public Investment Fund will invest a great deal in KSA along with Chinese partners. We need to improve all of our industries and I believe that we should invest at home before doing it abroad because we are a developing country. If China helped our industries it would create a unbreakable friendship as we would always remember who pushed for serious changes in our country and who helped us in this regard. I feel that China would be a more trusted partner than for instance the US in that regard but maybe I am wrong.

I am very good brother. Busy with life. Happy to see you around here as well. I hope that everything is going well and I wish you all the best success. However it would be good if some of the old guard returned. I know we have numerous Arab military forums but mostly only Arabs post there (surprise, lol) and that other forum looked/looks dead. So nowadays I am mostly following events on Twitter/social media and that is also where most of the action is nowadays.:-)

Cheers to our KSA friends

Thank you. It would be a good thing if the world's two biggest ethnicities (Han Chinese and Arabs) developed their relations so well that they would reach new and unprecedented heights for the benefit of both regions of the world and peoples.:china:

China Daily, a newspaper, in an article titled, “Roads of Arabia reveals a common cultural and historical heritage”, in which it stated that the exhibition is featuring a number of archeological objects that reveal the deep rooted historical ties and cultural relations between Saudi Arabia and the People’s Republic of China, noting that Beijing is the first Asian leg of the exhibition which was also hosted by 5 European countries and 4 US cities where it has attracted throughout all its past international tours, over 4 million visitors around the world.

Mr. Wang Jun, Director of the Art Exhibitions China(AEC), in light of the participation of AEC in the organization of the exhibition, he said, "The exhibition represents a rare opportunity for Chinese people to recognize the Kingdom’s deep rooted, rich cultural heritage which the displayed relics demonstrate."

Mr. Wang Jun added that, the ancient Maritime Silk Road was prosperous because of flourishing civilizations along the marine route in China and the Arabian Peninsula. This exhibition boosts the spirit of cooperation within the framework of the new Silk Road initiative between the two countries through deepening understanding of great historical and cultural heritage of the two countries.

Another important Chinese newspaper quoted HRH Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz as saying that the exhibition represents the convergence between Saudi and Chinese civilizations. The importance of the exhibition is that it shows that the Kingdom, besides its economic influence, has a long history and rich culture, which resonates in response to the Chinese side, assuring that the preservation of heritage is the protection of it for the future, and that there are many opportunities for cooperation between the two sides in various fields of culture.

The Daily also quoted the Minister of Culture of China, Luo Shugang, saying “Saudi Arabia was an important link to connect China with the West through the Maritime Silk Road and this exhibition displays a number of Chinese relics that were found in the heart of Saudi desert, dating back to a period between (618-1279 CE) indicating the prosperous relationship between the two countries in the ancient times.

Noteworthy, Minister of Culture of China had recently praised “Roads of Arabia” exhibition, commending its exhibits which highlight the cultural dimension of the Kingdom and its great history and heritage, indicating that the exhibition enhances the cultural and heritage relations between China and Saudi Arabia, especially that the two countries have great heritage and the Chinese love civilizations and show respect for nations of civilizations.

Chinese Minister of Culture at the end of his statement expressed his confidence that the exhibition will attract thousands of Chinese visitors who will come to identify the distinguished Saudi archaeological treasures which highlight the Arabic cultures.
