What's new

S-400 and Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR)

I did , the latest test was in 2020 for 400 km .
Looks like you have serious comprehension issues. Your initial assumption was India isn't a member of MTCR and claimed all Indian missile imports are capped at 300km

Secondly, neither Brahmos Aerospace nor DRDO nor IA/IN never officially claimed what range the Brahmos was tested at after MTCR...Infact, India first tested the 400km version back in 2017 itself

You can find media outlets claiming all kinds of ranges but none of em are official since we'd be upgrading them anyway and also want to keep it under the wraps. I wouldn't be surprised if we already had the 400+km version even before MTCR but officially only stated 290km

i agree with you, thank you for the articulation. I believe based on what I read, India is a member of MTCR since 2016. Since Brahmos is an imported/ modified weapon india will restrict its range. In the same vein if India is inspired by brahmose and makes a 1500 km cruise missile called Zapper..,. I am sure it would be alright. Some of India’s Nebiour s do this a lot. Those Countries believe that complete indeginsation does not reduce the lethality of the weapon. Babur will still operate at 1500 km range irrespective of its lineage.

same is true for jf-17 , alkhaid…. French/ NK inspired Shaheen series.

Just so you know, majority of the components in Brahmos are all replaced by Indian alternatives even though they used Russian components at the very start. All recent versions of Brahmos have indigenous booster, seeker, airframe, guidance systems including all the onboard electronic modules. Ramjet is the only Russian component which could also be easily replaced but we intend to keep it since this is still considered as a JV

Brahmos already has 90% Indian components...there were reports back in 2018 itself that 800km version will be tested

Media reports speculate ranges of 650km, 800km, 1000km & 1500-1600km under development...you can get all articles with a simple google search and some of em are reported by international media outlets as well
