What's new

Russian submarines are hunting down British Vanguard submarine

.
dude , the upgraded akula is on its way to india.....

.
Nothing new..Every country capable of doing so does it..

.
If british are smart they would use a slightly different propeller design at different engine speed for patrol and the full scale design for offensive operations. This will keep the enemy blinded during conflict even if they learned the signature.

and everytime they are needed for operations the ships would need to be in the docks for a couple of days ? not serious i think.

Bad news for the Ruskies they are trying to find the Vanguards but the British are finding the Akula's guess they will be doing their own analysis.

Everyone does that. Nothing out of the ordinary.

And yes in war time the signatures would be different because of a different propeller. As to the time for it, a country, specially in this age, prepares well in advance before going to war. In case of an emergency, one needs to make do with whatever one has. There are no rules for exceptions.

I beg your pardon sir, but these submarines are used as nuclear deterant forces. That means that they head out in sea for months and months and the idea is that you don't attack the country with nukes because you don't know where the sub is and the sub will nuke you whatever you do.

HOW on earth will the sub change its props mid-mission in some trench in the atlantic ocean ?????

read carefuly before what i wrote....

Hi,
I never denied your understanding of this issue. Here are my points.
1.) That deterrent does not change it's propeller in mid-mission. But since it is out there, the other countries including friendly ones would continue to hunt / record it's acoustic signature. How can one prevent it?
2.) Once a country is at war or suspects itself to go into a war, it would, by policy, change the propeller.
