India and pakistan are rivals, but India far out weighs Pakistan in almost every sphere of influence..least of all economically.

So India can engage with US, but at the same time give Russians enough business to keep them satisfied.

This recent courtship of Pakistan is but a cry for attention from the Russians to India.

The 4 helis are Mi-35s meant for the ANF, the initial batch is rumored to be for testing purposes, get your facts straight. You seem to have this mistaken idea that Pakistan is dirt poor, and that it's military operates entirely on foreign funding. Are you just ignoring reality, or have you been living under a rock? Pakistan's can buy what it needs, don't underestimate Pakistan's purchasing power.

It's not just about money, you're completely and utterly naive if you think the Russians are fine and content with India moving towards the US. The Russians care more about influence and geopolitical ramifications, than they do cash. Every action they've taken points to this.

Russian-Indian strategic cooperation runs long and deep, that's not going to change overnight. Anyway, Russia ia waning power and there are no permanent friendships.

If Russia wants to move away, that's their call, we still have a lot of areas of collaboration. However its simple, if they don't support us in such forums, we won't have any reason to support them either and with Europe heating up, Russia is going to need all the support it can get.
