He is a person who is responsible for our freedom. I don't see it as black day. But I can understand you taking our freedom for granted.

No matter what are the differences of India and Pakistan, one shouldn't forget our freedom fighters. Is it too much to ask.

When one ask what's special about this day, it the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi.

Ah.....finally, something that we can agree on. But is it not hypocritical to, on the one hand, praise and revere our freedom fighters and at the same time call other freedom fighters -> 'terrorists'?

Even if Putin does visit Pakistan in future I dont think there is much to read into it. India - Russia ties wouldnt be affected by these visits. Chinese president visited India recently does that mean China has come closer to India than Pakistan ?? lets understand every country thinks business including russia and china, thus there are many more factors involved behind these visits than we usually expect.

there is no permanent friend or enemy in international relations. alliences are made on basis of common /convergence intrests . so I belive at present Russia is trying to regain its position as key players in world chess board and Pakistan is an important strategically situated country. If Pakistan and Russia comes in some allience, due to comparatively having many times more national Power Russia will benifit more strategically then Pakistan. In either case best thing for pakistan would be that Pakistan should go for neutrality and non alinement .

But pakistanis here are demanding and hoping Sams like s-300,s-400  and other military hardware :P

I m glad Indians are soo happy. their insecurity is showing through each and every post.

MK Gandhi is a revered man all around the world you have your freedom because of him.

No thanks not at all. Keep your Mahamta to yourself. He was a double faced buniya. We had our freedom because of our leaders.

In international parlance postponing a visit means cancelling it, moreover the visit is 'postponed' for an indefinite period.

Seems Indian pressure worked!

Some peoples are really happy here.....and they are showing how much they were burning inside from this visit.

Islamabad: President Vladimir Putin has called off a scheduled visit to Islamabad, leading to the postponement of a quadrilateral summit of Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Afghanistan planned for next month, officials said thursday.

Putin was expected to arrive in Pakistan on October 2 for a two-day visit that was being projected by Pakistani officials as an opportunity to reset bilateral ties, which have been strained since the days of the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan.

Officials said Putin had cancelled the visit without giving any reasons. No fresh date for a visit was announced.

A statement issued by Foreign Office spokesman Moazzam Khan said the quadrilateral summit of Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan and Afghanistan, which was planned in Islamabad during October 2-3, was "being rescheduled."

"New summit dates will be worked out after seeking convenience of the respective leaders through diplomatic channels," Khan said.

In a letter sent to Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari, Putin expressed his eagerness to "jointly enhance our efforts to further develop Russian-Pakistani ties and advance mutually beneficial trade and economic projects," the statement said.

Putin wrote in the letter: "I am confident that in future we shall be able to find opportunities for arranging our personal meeting. We shall always be happy to receive you in Russia."

There was speculation that Putin's decision to cancel his visit could be linked to Pakistan's reluctance to award the work of building its section of the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline to Russian energy giant Gazprom.

The chief of the Russian firm had recently visited Pakistan and made presentations to the Foreign Ministry and other departments.

However, Gazprom had wanted the project to be awarded to it without bidding, something that Pakistan is reluctant to do.

Russia had made a proposal in this regard when Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar visited Russia earlier this year.

Pakistani officials have said such a step would violate the rules of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority.

A consortium headed by the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China has already refused to provide financial advisory services for the Iran-Pakistan project, mainly because of US opposition.
