That is not the problem, the problem is Russia has a problem that plague them which they can solve by buying Chinese weapon and yet due to pride. They are not willing to solve the problem and allow western to mock and trample them. Russia can buy 054A frigate and CH-5 UCAV in certain number to rapidly upgrade its short coming...

But you know the reason why they refuse to do that.

Of course I can understand Russia position, they're always an arm exporter since Soviet time, they don't get used to import arm especially from a nation such China LOL. A new formula such as join venture is more appropriate to give China and Russia some dignity, we can modify 054A and CH-5 UCAV to fill Russia's needs but never use the word such as Buy/Sell but join venture .

Imagine if China/Russia undertake the join venture to build 4 aircrafts carriers each then both can customize and finalized these carriers according their own needs, this will greatly reduce the procurement cost for both Russia and China, it will be a win-win deal.

China has succeeded the WS-15, and soon the 6th gen turbofan engine will be tested on a J-20 with the modified intake.

Russian technology is old 1980s Soviet technology and they have not moved that far ahead since then. Only thing they have that is decent anymore is their SSNs and SAM systems such as S-400.

The design of the nuclear supercarrier has been finalized, and its nuclear reactor is running smoothly on the land, and it is already qualified to be fit into a supercarrier.

The lead ship of the Type 095 has been deployed, and it contains the shaftless rim-driven pumpjet.

The Type 096 is under construction, and it is believed that the lead ship will also take the sea trial soon, and the JL-3 is under testing.

The H-20 stealth strategic bomber will also conduct its maiden flight soon.

Days of co-operation between China and Russia are no longer possible.

China has more technology it can bring to the table and much more resources. Russia would just be a junior partner in any joint venture.

The CR929 is still a perfect example of China-Russia cooperation, but I do believe that the maiden flight of the CR929 will be flying with the CJ-2000 turbofan engine. However, Russia has more past experience to design the body frame of a jetliner than China.

BTW, China can offer them the Type 055, if they want to offer something else for an exchange instead of buying, it is also fine, since China knows that they want to save more face as it is intertwined with their arm deal around the world.

Politically yes, since Russia is helping China for the new global order.

And Russia is also geographically very important that stretches from Europe to Asia with enormous amount of resources.

That's right, China still wants to treat Russia equally, and Xi Jinping has a lot of respect for Putin.

To strength the geopolitical alliance for both country, China is willing to cooperate with Russia in both economy and military.

Although the Su-35 and S-400 are not really necessary for China, but China is still buying it to show its greatest support for Russia's military industrial complex, and many countries are immediately following suit because of China's buying effect.

Russia have strong pride thing going and see themselves reunified after fall of soviet union.They would like to see western world give them respect they deserve. Chinese on other hand are also proud but they are quiet . which i do like this tactic don't talk but move your chess pieces.
Sometimes i do think that Russia is playing the ultimate chess and that is to allow everyone else destroy each other Russia come on top. Chinese they going for alliances like pak etc and adsorb as much as they can with these alliances and trade to keep building themselves up something like NATO approach. Maye even get Chinese to marry in to other nations to build blood alliances and the use that as a leverage for influence.
