You may be right but the irony is, most of those inside Turkey who I think would oppose such a rapprochement, who most definitely oppose supporting any Russian effort in Syria, are the very base of people who are Erdogan supporters in Turkish politics, i.e., the practising Sunni Muslims, socially conservative, rural, people, who identify with the Sunni insurgency against Assad, dislike Iran, etc., in foreign policy issues.

Not really, if you read Pro-Akp news papers they are always trying to figure out ways how to join shanghai coop org. I talk to the exact socially conservative rural people you mentioned they say the same stuff as mentioned in those newspapers. Most people in Turkey view the war as something stupid, "those guys just killing each other again". They don't really have an interest in backing the rebels to the extent to where they have to lift a finger. They just think Assad is doing very bad by bombing everywhere.

It was trained Turkish police officer which shot him dead, Some people are not happy from Erdogan policies, hate is increasing when erdogan is involved in violations of human rights after failed coup attempt, Turkey is burning, but erdogan is busy to arrest opponents, anybody criticizing him is enemy, and they are throwing thousands of people in prison and calling them enemy of turkey. I wish erdogan changes its policies, and bring peace there which seems very difficult under AKP government.

There were a lot of speculations regarding to the death of the assassin.

Here is what happened;

19:05 - After killing the ambassador, he shouts in Arabic and throws the paintings on the walls to the floor.

19:27 - Police special forces enters the building and they shout at him to surrender. Assassin begins firing on the special forces by taking cover.

19:32 - Special forces shots him from his feet and legs with 4 bullets. Assasin continues to shoot from the ground, despite the calls of surrender.

19:42 - Assassin tries to reach his pocket. Special forces thinking that he might be reaching for a detonator to trigger a suicide vest or explosives that might be planted on the building, kills him.

19:49 - Paramedics enter the building after special forces do a quick search for explosives.

We didn't hear an official statement about the special force's operation. But my take is; ambassador was shot down and was lying on the ground. Terrorist had to be neutralized fast in order for paramedics to begin medical treatment.

I'm not sure if anyone has posted this information or not, but for those who wonder how come the assassin was not challenged for being where he was, or doubted his credentials due to his age, (A point made by a poster in this thread.), he had served on the security detail of President Erdogan himself, on multiple occasions.

How did he change 3 magazines,or did he have 4 guns(70 shots)?
Couldnt a sniper(special forces) have shot the gun from his hand while changing magazines?
It doesnt sound plausible to me.
