Russia to build 1000MW nuke power plant in BD

YOu should be thankfull that those 30 years old machines still running. Sheikh Rehana had nothing to dowith nuke deal. Its russian government directly dealing with this, and they are too big for her.;)

Conern is not existing one but the new one being inefficient and gas guzzler.

As for nuke deal wirh russian govt that would even more problematic because more leverage by our enemy on Russians. Even in govt to govt deal taking percentage is common in Bangladesh and else where.

By the way just other day Turkey canceled nuke plant deal with Russia.

Turkey cancels tender for first NPP project
Would you mind telling us which gas power plants the Russians have built in Bangladesh in the past, and which are the inefficient ones? Are you sure about this?

Its a private company which bid for Ankara's projects. We are dealing with Russian Govt company and with Russian Government. Russian govt will also provide us soft loan for the project as well. Govt to Govt contract.

All russian plants are more than 30 years old. There is none recent.
Ghorashal, Fenchuganj the biggest ones what I could recall.

Ankara cancelled the tender because only one bidder took part. It does not prove russians are inept, it is just the opposite. It could also mean that no other western company dared to bid against the russians.

Why our idune thinks it has any relevance to our own nuke power plant project? There will be no bidding, govt of BD has selected Russia as the country to build the plant. Moreover, Russia will probably provide a soft loan. Many other countries like China and France were also interested in this project.

Idune may be worried that RAW may put an atomic bomb inside the nuke reactors and press the remote control button at an opportune time. Idune has a real inventive brain, no one can match it.

I am concerned that Bangladesh is going to be held up in the middle of implementation because our enemy play leverage on Russians. Just like Iranians are sufferening because US-Israel using their leverage on Russia.

If you have gurentee that there is no possibility then show how that is possible.

As Iajdani mentioned in earlier post Ghorashal has the largest concentration of Russian plants. I am more than sure about these old russian plant because one of my friend had been engineer there. There has not been any new Russian plants in last 2 decades and do not know if there was much improvements.

do you know why a nuclear power plant exploded during soviet era?? what to do if this is repeated in bd??

The best performing non-nuke conventional power plants can be supplied by the Japanese companies. But their currency is too strong now-a-days to contest in any international bidding. Today's currency exchange rate is somewhere near $1 = Y88.75. It is too strong. They can bid when the dollar is above 110 yen.

Its not only russian power plant exploded but americans power plant also exploded. All the nuclear power plant built now a days, keeping in mind of those two accident and works in our favor as Russians already have the know how about those accidents. The 3rd generation plants are very safe not like the one in Chernobyl. Russians and Japanese are using them so why to worry.

Nobody could beat chinese in Bid price. Junks are always cheap.

Yes, you are right. During renovation of Ghorasal Urea Fertilizer Factory when Ershad was in power, I went to Ghorasal as a member of survey/investigation team of Toyo Engineering Co. of Japan.

The adjacent Polash Fertilizer Factory was built by the Chinese. Polash chimney emits bad looking and bad smelling fumes all the time. It may cause a person asthma if he lives a long time there. But, Ghorasal never has this problem.

Chinese technology is still junk. China will never match Japan only because the Chinese cannot be as meticulous as the Japanese are.

US may offer India-like nuke deal to Pak

Look, somehow Pak has succeeded to convince USA. So well done and congratulations to Pakistan.

Now can anyone say what about BD's nuke plant?

Will it happen ever or it was a mere table talking/bluff of the govt.?

Or will we only import electricity from outside?

How serious is BD?

We, in BD, are already suffering miserable load shedding if you read the BD newspapers.
