What's new

Russia Su-35 is officially on offer to India.

Logic here:

> You can buy three SU-35 for the price of two Rafales.

we are okay with less number of Quality fighters

> Infrastructure for SUs already in place. No need to start from scratch for the enormous infrastructure needed for the Rafales. That itself would cost a bomb.

Rafale can fit easily inside the MiG 21's pen, but Su 35 need to modify existing structures

> SU-35 is a state of the art fighter.

So about Rafale too

> HAL unwilling to take on the responsibility for building Rafales in India as it lacks the wherewithal. The French have refused to take on the responsibility too for Rafales manufactured by HAL.

Only assumptions no official records

You have a point there! The SU-30MKIs are being upgraded to Super Sukhois.

The 'Super 30' represents the next evolution for the SU-30MKI. Upgrades are reported to include a new radar (likely Phazotron’s Zhuk-AE), improved on-board computers, upgraded electronic warfare systems, and the ability to fire the air-launched version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile which has been tested recently. India may eventually upgrade all its earlier models to this standard.

I think junking the Rafale and getting an additional 128 Super SU-MKIs instead would be the best option. :enjoy:

the Rafale can hover the Area defending it's friendlies on the ground both Air and Ground based threats

Su 30 came either A2G Mode or A2A mode only, do you know why IAF used Mirage 2000 to drop PGM's in Kargil

.
Forget about Rafale for a min and can anyone pls confirm the Radar ranges for this !! As earlier asked by @graphican , this is no fighter or multi role aircraft ... this is a frigging AWASC with enough firepower to kill a small island !!

The Rafale is an outstanding platform but many have questioned the deal itself. Either the French give in to Parrikar's demands or get booted out. Parrikar is pretty much the last word on this matter.

. .
INDIA should dump that Rafael and opt for SU 35 MKi (tailor made for india), it will be a game changer :guns::guns:, our LCA/mirage 2000/hawks/jaguars/mig21 bis/mig 27 will fill the gap for Rafael and wish not if india buys rafael it becomes a white elephant too costly to maintain

Its not a wise choice for going on French... They will loot our hard earned money for Every fighter they sells and its future updates, just like they did on mirage upgrades

If you buy from foreign countries, you'll never have a game changer. To have a game changer, you have to make it yourself, like China does with J-20. Make it yourself, not only for pride, but also for logistics and global influence.

you are right but it is changing slowly if not at the speed of the Chinese, our LCA project is maturing slowly, our navy is the fine example that we are steadily manufacturing our own boats, and recently three landing utility boats were launched which are made in india

Quantity has its own quality, we are not fighting against NATO

Okay, we are not going to fight against NATO for that we may induct mass number of Flankers

Note to all : Reason for Inducting Flankers finally concluded

I am favoring su34 over rafale and su 35.

.
PM Narendra Modi is going to visit France in April and on March 25 we will be handover two Mirage2000 upgraded aircrafts and we are already having all the facilities and production line in HAL to overhaul Mirage 2000.

One only question are Mirage 2000 and Rafale based on the same technology ?

.
where is the SU-35's speedbrake ?

Its vertical stabilizer act as air-brakes and can turn inwards to do this function.

Also, the rudders are additional fuel tanks that make the BMs with a higher range.

An ancient proverb goes something like this: 'Neither friends are permanent, nor are the enemies permanent'.

Foreign policy runs on that. Who thought Ukraine would be ripped apart by NATO? No one. After Cold War Ukraine became a peaceful entity.

We can only be structurally and internally prepared.

yeah, went back and read the bit about the rudders acting as spoilers, you sure they both turn inward ? I wonder if they turn toward or away from each other.. I imagine both those scenarios create lots of drag, so whatever works out best aerodynamically..

anyway,we already have experience maintaining, operating the airframe, and given that the French can sanction us under pressure from uncle sam at any time, I say screw them, get moar flankers and raise dedicated ground attack and a2a/interceptor squadrons to do the job if that's the only glitch with the 35BM

.
Not again!! Why not buy two squadron each from all the 35s (i.e MIG, SU and F) and then two from Rafale, Typhoon, F (15, 16, 18s), Grippens and even one from JF-17s???
