Russia snubs India, postpones defence minister's visit to New Delhi

In international politics it's not only dollars kido, no wonder world call you BANYA.

expected line , when you have no dollars to spend.
Look up Strategic ties of India with Russia (your anticipated future ally)
Look up Bilateral ties of India with US (your ex-great ally)
Look up trade relation of India with China (your current ally)

.
Which means that India will act as a countervail to China, because this is what the Americans are seeking and Indian government is reluctant to do this in the manner US wants it to.

and why should it be ???? after all its not as gracious as u guys....:pakistan::pakistan:

.
Read my post again to understand what i was trying to imply.....it's not just Pakistan but several Arab countries are feeling nervous with the American presence and policies.....and rest assured no one is of opinion of separating Mr Moscow from Bharat Begum. :D.... and if America can sell to you without agonising Russia, what can stop Russia from doing the same, not sure where did you pull the new world order from.....every country has it's own interests at heart.

I doubt if Russia will extend soft loans; even a bare bone mig 29 costs than j10b which pakistan is still not able to afford. i doubt there is much help russia can provide. Apart from that; russia has to cater to Indian sensitivities where supplying similar subsystems which India uses (like a2a missiles, cm's, radars and attack platforms) will hurt the security paradigm of India.

pakistan is also known to be a hub of extremist terror outfits which have hurt the region, Russia itself has had problems with similar terror outfits operating out of chechnya; hence has sympathies for the victims.

Business angle of developing military relations with pakistan will produce counter productive results with India; as pakistans defense policies are India centric. Helping pakistan directly means hurting India, It is to be seen if russia takes such steps. Remember France abandoning avionics package for pakistan to ensure Indian markets remain open.

.
Actually more than half of those pages are by Indians desperately convincing themselves it's not going to happen.

Well said  Why so insecure though , neighbors ? ... Most of them thought Mother Russia would never leave them

Just because their economy has started to develop in the last 10-12 years , they have started to think they can buy the whole word with the " Almighty Dollar " :azn:

.
India has more military cooperation with countries in ME like Saudi than you think.

India, Saudi Arabia discuss joint weapon projects

We also have plans for an airbase near Muscat (Oman) for conducting anti-piracy ops and Chabrahar port
in Iran.

Ha russia needs pakistan for coming into Arabian sea right? They can do that only through the
most powerful fellow in IOR - India. India is increasing defence cooperation even with KSA and pakistan
is just a little navy sitting there coz they have no where else to go.

Your argument holds no weight.
Congratulation of Living in denial and happily spluttering your money around the world.

Trade volume doesnt dedicates to good political relationship, reference to china and Japan relationship.

.
^ It matters if the trade consists of defense products as a large part of it.

its not in case of Japan-China, US-China etc.

I think all visits are well schedule. So I really don't buy the official statement. But I don't even buy the article story. You are right on that. Pak can't make 1/10 of market that India do for Russia. I think it's way of showing displeasure. And if I am not wrong it is because of the Indian statement on Vikidi - that if delivery goes beyond 67 months it will cause penalty. And may be the increasing influence of USA over Indian arms market

It is not always about how big the market is. If that was the case, China makes much bigger market than India. The reason Pakistan is becoming important ot Russia is due to its Geo-Strategic importance, Genius.....

.
Can't blame them if true, its all our fault. I think India is more the culprit of pushing away ties with an all-weather friend like Russia, for better ties with USA recently.

Two countries that India should never forget in its relationship are Russia and Israel. Friends come and go, but these two countries have been recently ignored/pushed away by India to try and get better relationships with USA and Arabs. We should try for better relationships with everyone, but never at the expense of your true friends like Russia and Israel.

Well there might be advantages to get closer to Pakistan for Russia, but does that advantage big enough to leave India. I think no, so in that case Russia will have relationship with both India and Pakistan and one relationship will not be at the cost of other.

This is how real world works, just because one becomes your friend does not mean it will leave its existing friend. Unfortunately Pakistani's feels that everyone is in their pocket if they say hi to them. Get the taste of reality.

.
So what is the issue....As long as Afganistan is volatile...Pakstan will be important for Russia becoz it has again play the game that Russia has lost in 1980's....So india should accept that situation has changed and we should take necessary steps accordingly...

When you deal with the American, its really difficult to stand in the middle. They will push you away beyond your imagination. Stay close to Russian is better. I know you could gain lots sticking together with USA, but watch tightly what you will pay for that.

With the changing world equation, the dynamics of India-Russia and Russia-Pakistan are showing perceptible change. The Russian Defence Minister Anatoly Serdyukov postponed his scheduled visit to New Delhi ostensibly because he was called by the Russian President Vladimir Putin for an urgent function. However, the most likely reason is seen as the visit of Pakistan Army Chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, who will be in Moscow on October 5. Because of this the visit of the Russian defence minister to India has been rescheduled to October 10.

As India has decided to not put all its apples in one basket and has started exploring more foreign vendors besides Russia, Moscow is also exploring other market options.

While in Moscow there are many things high on the agenda of General Kayani. He will be seeking the Kremlin’s approval for three crucial projects: creation of an engine overhaul facility in Kamra for the 84.4kN-thrust Klimov RD-93, whuch powers the Pakistan Air Force’s (PAF) JF-17 ‘Thunder’ Multi-Role Combat Aircraft (MRCA), another overhaul workshop for the 12 RD & PE Zvezda JSC-built UPAZ-1 aerial refuelling pods in service with the Pakistan Air Force's four IL-78MKP Multi-role transport aircraft, continued product-support for the four IL-78MKPs; and most importantly, the export approval for 132kN-thrust AL-31FN turbofans required for powering the initial 40 FC-20 (36-single-seat and four tandem-seat) Medium Multi Role Combat Aircraft that the PAF wants to procure from China’s Chengdu Aircraft Industry Corp (which is also producing the JF-17).

Here is the statement issued by the Indian Defence Ministry-

"The meeting of the India-Russia Inter-governmental Commission on Military Technical Cooperation (IRIGC-MTC) which was to be held tomorrow has been deferred due to the inability of the Russian Co-Chair of the Commission and the Defence Minister Mr. Serdyukov to travel to India as scheduled. It has been conveyed by the Russian side that the Russian Defence Minister was required to stay in Russia for his urgent participation in a programme of the Russian President.

The IRIGC-MTC meeting will now be held on 10th October, which is an annual meeting at the level of Defence Ministers of the two countries."
