Russia moves to a high income

The Russian Federation was ranked among the economies with the highest income, according to the World Bank classification, published this week. Last year the country only reach upper middle group.
The World Bank economies classification is based on estimates of gross national income (GNI) per capita. According to this data, all countries are divided into four groups: economies with GNI less than $1,035 refer to low income, lower middle income is $1,036 to $4,085, upper middle income lies between $4,086 and $12,615 and high income refers to a GNI of $12,615 and more.
Chile, Antigua and Barbuda, Lithuania, Latvia and Uruguay were also ranked as high income economies. Such countries as Iraq, Belize and Fiji moved up to upper middle group. Only two economies took a step back: Hungary lost its high income status and became upper middle, while South Sudan moved from lower middle to low income.
The first place in the GNI ranking belongs to Monaco, and the top-5 economies also include Liechtenstein, Bermuda, Norway and Switzerland. The US with a GNI of more than $50,000 is in 18th place. Russia has a GNI of around $12,700, which makes it 72nd in the world ranking.

Russia is a high-income economy. The reason everyone sees Russia as 3rd World is because of the violence and corruption in the country.

Homicide rate of 10 per 100,000, corruption fit for the 3rd world, etc. It has gone down a lot though. I think within a decade our Russian brothers will be part of the European/Western community.

Official Russian statistics shows the rate of 10 per 100,000 for crimes of homicide and attempted murders. Unfortunately Western media always had appalling lack of proper informing.

What do you mean? So that includes attempted homicide is what you are saying?

What is the real homicide rate then?
