Russia-Ukraine War - News and Developments PART 2

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that Ukraine will officially appeal to South Koreafor military assistance, specifically requesting artillery, air defense systems, and other essential military supplies. This request comes in light of recent developments involving North Korea's increased military cooperation with Russia, which has heightened security concerns for Ukraine.

Key Points:

  • Detailed Request for Weapons: Zelenskyy stated that a comprehensive request for military aid will be sent to South Korea shortly. He emphasized the importance of this appeal, especially after North Korea has been recognized as a state actively supporting Russia's war efforts against Ukraine. The request will be delivered by a representative who will visit South Korea soon to discuss the specifics of the needed weapons.
  • Changing Dynamics: Historically, Ukraine has been cautious in its approach toward South Korea regarding military support. However, the recent involvement of North Korean troops in the conflict has prompted a reassessment of this relationship. South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol has previously indicated that his country would not remain passive in response to North Korean actions, signaling a potential shift in South Korea’s stance towards providing military assistance to Ukraine.
  • Potential Military Aid: Although South Korea has not yet provided direct military aid to Ukraine since the onset of the full-scale war, there are indications that this may change. Reports suggest that South Korea is considering supplying 155mm artillery shells to Ukraine, although this information has been officially denied by the South Korean government.
  • International Context: The backdrop of these developments includes ongoing tensions between North Korea and the U.S., as well as between Russia and Western nations. The presence of North Korean troops in Russia and their potential deployment to Ukraine raises significant security concerns for both Ukraine and its allies.

Conclusion

Zelenskyy's appeal to South Korea for military assistance highlights the evolving geopolitical landscape in response to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. As Ukraine seeks to bolster its defenses against Russian aggression, the potential for increased military cooperation with South Korea could play a crucial role in shaping the dynamics of support for Ukraine on the international stage. The situation remains fluid, and further developments will likely influence both regional security and international relations.

Reports indicate that North Korean troops may now be present in Russian-occupied regions of Ukraine, including Donetsk, where they reportedly provide operational support to Russian forces. Some Ukrainian and South Korean sources have claimed that North Korean military engineers and technical advisers are supervising the use of North Korean-supplied weaponry. South Korea’s National Intelligence Service reported that around 1,500 North Korean soldiers began deploying to Russia on October 8, possibly to relieve Russian troops at the border or provide specialized support in ammunition handling and logistics. This development highlights the strengthening military ties between Russia and North Korea, deepening their collaboration amid the conflict

Footage of Russian servicemen inspecting a Ukrainian armored vehicle "Kozak-5". The armored vehicle "Kozak-5" got stuck in a swamp during the retreat of Ukrainian units from the Kursk region of Russia. Ukrainian armored vehicles "Kozak-5" have been produced by the Kiev company NPO "Praktika" since 2016. Ukrainian units damaged the front axle of the armored vehicle and abandoned it, but it remained on the move. Russian units pulled out the armored vehicle "Kozak-5", but after evacuating it to the rear, its gearbox and driveshaft broke. Now the vehicle has been sent for restoration. The armored vehicle "Kozak-5" is built on the chassis of the American SUV Ford F-550. The armored vehicle "Kozak" is the first Ukrainian armored vehicle protected from a mine explosion, it can withstand an explosion of up to 3 kilograms of TNT. The Kozak-5 armored vehicle can carry up to 8 people and reaches speeds of up to 120 km/h.

Four Ukrainian kamikaze drones attacked the Russian city of Kaspiysk in Dagestan today, the video was published by local eyewitnesses. Some of the ships of the Russian Caspian Flotilla are stationed in Kaspiysk. Presumably, Ukrainian kamikaze drones of the A-22 "Flying Fox" aircraft type were used, the drones are based on the Aeroprakt A-22 aircraft. Some of the drones were shot down with small arms. Judging by the video, one of the drones presumably exploded near the decommissioned Russian missile boat "Stupinets" of Project 12411T, another drone exploded near a small missile ship of Project 21631. Presumably, Russian electronic warfare was operating in the port area, distorting the GPS signal, which is why the drones missed. At the moment, it is unknown whether the ships were damaged or not.

3 day special military operation about to come to a end real soon.

US and NATO are pushing the narrative that North Korean troops are fighting in Ukraine so that they can justify sending in NATO troops into Western Ukraine to prevent a total defeat by Russia forces!!

Following Donald Trump's victory in the U.S. presidential election, reports surfaced of the Russian military making a direct appeal to him, suggesting he urge Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to lay down arms and accept a Russian victory. This hypothetical request underscores the complex geopolitical tensions surrounding the U.S. stance on the Ukraine conflict and signals Russia’s interest in leveraging shifts in American leadership to influence the situation in Ukraine.

However, it's crucial to verify such claims from credible sources, as they often emerge amidst high-stakes political discourse and media narratives.

Russia has suggested that the United States is exacerbating the conflict in Ukraine by providing ongoing support to Kyiv, but expressed hope that President Trump could play a role in bringing about a resolution. Russian officials have consistently criticized Western military aid to Ukraine, arguing that it prolongs the conflict and impedes diplomatic solutions. With Trump’s previous stance of favoring negotiations over extended U.S. involvement in foreign conflicts, Russia may see his administration as potentially more open to brokering a settlement or scaling back support for Ukraine.

North Korean soldiers deployed to assist Russia in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine have reportedly gained unrestricted internet access for the first time, leading to claims that they are "gorging" on pornography. This development has raised eyebrows, given North Korea's historically strict control over internet usage, which typically limits access to state-approved content.

Key Points:

  • Unrestricted Internet Access: According to reports from Gideon Rachman, a foreign affairs commentator for the Financial Times, North Korean troops have never had free internet access before their deployment in Russia. This newfound freedom has reportedly led to a significant increase in their consumption of online pornography.
  • Cultural Shock: The exposure to uncensored internet content represents a dramatic shift for these soldiers, who come from a highly controlled and isolated society. The implications of this cultural exposure on their behavior and morale are yet to be fully understood.
  • Military Context: Approximately 10,000 North Korean soldiers have been sent to bolster Russian forces in Ukraine. This marks a significant military collaboration between North Korea and Russia, as both countries face international isolation and sanctions.
  • Pentagon Response: A spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Defense stated that they could not confirm reports regarding the soldiers' internet habits. The focus remains on the broader implications of North Korea's involvement in Russia's military operations rather than individual behaviors.
  • Ukrainian Engagement: Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov confirmed that Ukrainian forces have engaged in combat with North Korean troops for the first time, although these encounters have been described as small skirmishes rather than large-scale operations.

Conclusion

The situation highlights a unique intersection of military engagement and cultural exposure for North Korean soldiers as they assist Russia in Ukraine. The potential psychological and social effects of their newfound internet access remain uncertain but could influence their conduct on the battlefield and beyond. As this dynamic unfolds, it will be important to monitor both the military developments and the cultural ramifications of such unprecedented access to global information.

An episode of the assault on a stronghold of the Ukrainian army in the border part of the Kursk region of Russia. A group of Russian soldiers in a BMP-2 advanced to the stronghold and landed troops. The assault on the stronghold was carried out from the flanks, the BMP-2s provided fire support and suppressed the work of the stronghold's firing points. Artillery also worked. The dead soldiers are hidden in the video.

Video of the use of the Russian FPV drone "Prince Vandal Novgorodsky" in Ukraine, controlled via fiber optic cable. In the video, the FPV drone "Vandal" pursues and attacks a Ukrainian BMP-2 of Soviet manufacture, they are also used by the Russian army. Note that the driver-mechanic noticed the drone and is trying to take the combat vehicle away. The BMP-2 has a net as protection from drones on top, but the drone attacks the BMP in the stern. As a result of the drone attack, the BMP was destroyed, the fate of the crew is unknown. The video was filmed in the Pokrovsky direction.

Footage has been published of the evacuation of a Ukrainian armored vehicle, the American-made Cougar H, by Russian repair units. The Cougar H armored vehicle was damaged and abandoned in the Kursk region of Russia by Ukrainian units. The Cougar H MRAP has been produced by the American company Force Protection Inc since 2002; there are 4x4 and 6x6 versions. These combat vehicles were first used in Iraq by the US Marine Corps sapper units. According to open data, Ukraine has received about 30 Cougar MRAP armored vehicles. The standard armament of the Cougar H is a 7.62 mm or 12.7 mm machine gun. The Cougar H armored vehicle is equipped with anti-mine protection capable of withstanding an explosion of 14 kg of TNT under any wheel or 7 kg of TNT under the hull. The Cougar 4x4 weighs from 14 to 17 tons, it can carry up to 6 people, including a crew of 2.

The Russian army has begun using captured Ukrainian M2A2 Bradley ODS-SA IFVs of American manufacture in combat. Some M2A2 Bradley IFVs have been restored and equipped with additional protection against drones in the form of so-called "barbecues". Currently, only one Russian M2A2 Bradley IFV is known, and there is no data yet on how many there really are. The Russian army uses the M2A2 Bradley IFVs primarily for transport purposes, since there are enough spare parts for them, from captured Ukrainian Bradley IFVs, and ammunition is limited. It is worth noting that the M2A2 IFV demonstrated good survivability during combat in Ukraine, but only when using the BRAT add-on protection. BRAT protection makes the combat vehicle heavier, but provides good protection. In the video, you can see the M2A2 Bradley IFV being hit by two Russian, presumably ATGMs, of an unknown type, despite the damage, the combat vehicle was removed from the fire. It is unknown how much the crew suffered. The video also includes details on the use of the M2A2 Bradley IFV in the Russian army and impressions of the combat vehicle.

Reports indicate that Ukrainian forces recently destroyed the Kurakhove Reservoir Dam in the Donetsk region. This action, reportedly taken to slow the advance of Russian forces, has strategic implications for the ongoing conflict. By flooding certain areas, Ukrainian forces aim to create obstacles for Russian troops, particularly in areas around Kurakhove, a significant transport and logistical hub in southern Donbas. This region has seen heavy fighting, with both sides intensifying operations to control key locations near Kurakhove
