Dhaka, July 29 (UNB) – Russia is keen to provide special training for the engineers of Bangladesh engaged in nuclear energy projects, Russian Ambassador Alexander A Nicolaev said on Sunday.

The envoy expressed the interest when he paid a call on Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid at his secretariat office.

During the meeting, the Education Minister and the Russian Ambassador discussed different bilateral issues, including Russian scholarships to Bangladeshis studying in Russia and exchange of more students between the two countries.

Nahid recalled with gratitude the contribution of Soviet Unions to the country’s liberation war.

He also said the relations between the two countries in the field of education remains embedded since the independence.

The Education Minister thanked Russia for its continued cooperation in the country’s education sector.

What happened to Indian pipe dream of working as lackey of Russia in South Asia in nuclear energy.
Indians are shameless to the teeth. Nobody gives a hoot to them yet they always come...

The news is from 2010 when Russian is in the process of signing nuclear deal with BD. India came crying to keep them involved but never contacted back. :-)

India and Russia have decided to work together in the field of nuclear commerce. The two countries will help set up smaller nuclear power plants in South Asian countries such as Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, sources said. This, according to South Block sources, is a key outcome of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev’s visit to India.

China is active in most South Asian countries, building infrastructure in a big way, and hence, the India-Russia joint initiative will be an attempt to counter that as well.

India and Russia agreed “to consider cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy with third countries”. Negotiators from New Delhi and Moscow said both sides are confident of executing projects jointly. Sources said both sides said the projects in South Asian countries will yield economic and political dividends. South Asian countries, sources said, need smaller nuclear power plants, generating 200-250 MW of power.

Both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are energy starved, and India is helping them by linking their grids with its own. In case of Bangladesh, India is making efforts to link its eastern grid through its border in West Bengal, while in case of Sri Lanka, India is planning to lay underwater cables to connect the power grids in both countries.

For the first time, Russia has also recognised India as a “supplier state” in the nuclear business — both in terms of equipment and fuel.

USSR sent submarine to counter USS Enterprise....while all the work was done by Indian Army. And now everyone hates India in Bangladesh.:fie:

Why don't we learn from our mistakes...:D

BTW all the best with this program. Russians are master in mathematics and engineering.

Bangladesh is going to nuke itself?

so we can maintain it as we dont and cannot do it ourselves as of now

Ten 25 KT nkues would do fine for us to maintain minimum deterrence. All we need to do is obliterate Kolkata and liberate NE and the thought of that will keep babus in delhi piss in their pants upon hearing the name of BD.:coffee:

In time dear. It ain't easy. But doesn't hurt to try right? :azn: Oh yeah, we also need to develop a missile to deliver it which is another complex matter :D

But the radiation....:undecided:

lolz ten nukes??? :) If you try to acquire even one, uncle sam is going to give you a nice Anal and will not even use a lube :D

think logically BD cannot go nuclear and have it
BD will not survive
our economy doomed

it will be or might be a different if IRAN weapons is nuclear already

it is not easy to make as we are signatory to it

(but in a way of thinking if BD ever needs it or makes it , then we need a short medium long range ballistic missiles with nuclear warhead and i am not sure if this nuclear power plant can do it it will need a lot of work to do )

Actually why would you need it and against whom.

First of all, any attempt to acquire them will bring sanctions and I don't think BD should do it as you are growing at good rate, why risk it.

Secondly, consider the cost of maintaining them and stability of the region. Those who already have won't use it, why get into wrong side.

Dozens of nukes of Pakistan didn't affect Kargil operation. Both Pakistan and India knows that nukes are no longer a viable reason to keep each other. Its MAD.

I totally support BD getting nukes especially for people like you who wants to bring down their economy just to keep babus in delhi in mind.

Upon hearing the name of BD, India thinks of word "illegal". But go ahead, like you can counter India where a force like Pakistan still thinks war is no longer an option due to shear size of Indian forces where we are just on one side of their borders.

What radiation buddy ? Only few of you guys think more of developing rather than most of the guys in destruction.

Hope more people can think like you.
