Russia demand more money for Admiral Gorshkov

.
My Indian friends this shows Russia only mean business, there is no special relationship with India and they are interested to do such business with Pakistan too, Russia finally getting up.

Indian pressure will not work much on Russians.

There are lot of things which are special..

No body can provide us nuclear sub but they did...and even assisted on developing local submarine..
They allowed us to attach american or israeli hardware on their fighters provided to us.
Even they assisted in space program..
and other military stuff.... n nuclear reactors blah blah..

.
Hahahaaha Russia did it again :D
But its really a Bad news for our Pakistani and Chinese friends :D - Cuz now on India will look elsewhere and USA is willing and ready I guess :P

Yes, Russia means business (i will not like to add "only" in that), in fact no country has relationship with any other country which can be said as a "bhai-bhai" relationship, UK is taken to be as the staunchest ally of US but at the time of war of Falklands, US hardly helped UK in it's effort to win back the lost islands. China which is always called as an "all weather friend" of Pakistan, by members here, forgot to help Pakistan in it's hour of need in 1971, as the weather was cold & passes to India were all closed  Mate, for a nation, only thing supreme is it's National Interests, anything that doesn't suits it's national interests is the least in priority of that nation, than it doesn't care for any nation (special relationship, all weather, ally, are the words that are said just to satisfy/appease the junior partner).

But i din't used the "only" word used by u, b'coz Russia has helped us with technologies which cannot be buied even when India is ready to pay double the money for it. Than be it a nuclear sub, cryogenic engines, 5th gen planes etc. These are the tech. which makes Russia un-replaceable for India.

Russian workers at the shipyard get drunk on vodka by 3 pm. With the looming deadlines for delivery and the bar tab reaching exorbitant sums, they just blame the Indians and at the same time get them to pay for the vodka bill. Works like a charm every time.

Do You think that the IN will now sign the contract for the 3 follow-on Talwar Class frigate (news which was out recently)??

I'd say yes this deal will still be signed because the Yantar shipyard has got to a point-thanks to Indian $$$, where it can deliver on time and on schedule but I would add that these latest batch of Talwars are the last ships built in Russia for the IN-EVER. The IN is looking to add capacity rapidly hence you will see simultanious inductions ie procurement of lates Talwars whilst still building and inducting the P-17As same goes for Minesweepers and LHD/LPD wherein the first few examples will be built by the foreign shipyards but at the same time ToT will be going on in India construction of the types starting in India. The IN has learnt from past mistakes ie P-75 so has gone for the above methodolgy, simialrly it will learn the lesson from the Viky calamity and the Russians will end up paying BIG in the long-run.

go buy American stuff and see how they screw you。:woot:

the only way out is having India‘s OWN defence industry, comprehensively from rifles to CVs。

Sir arp2041, yes I do agree with you, as you said Russia have given you such tech that wasn't available for you guys in market, yes this is true, same goes for us but in our case it's china in that sense people say it's all weather friend though it is foolish to think that china will openly jump in our war.

well my point was that yes India have funds and have a full right to purchase the best option available in market, but sir I do believe when you get let say bit attach with the customer then if that customer goes to another brand for the purchase that they offer too that do create mistrust and that's the reason why Russia is opening its market to the other part of the world and going for less pleasing polices toward current deals, like this.

Americans unlike Russian never sell technology to other countries.

IN is also compelled to sign an order for another batch of Talwars b'coz the shipyards over here a full to there capacity, the only way they can add two types of frigates into its inventory is by giving a parallel order to a foreign shipyard (as P-17As are already under construction in Indian shipyards), the only way IN can get rid of giving orders to any foreign shipyard is by improving the domestic shipbuilding & giving more preference to private shipyards, than we can truly aspire to have a truly indigenous blue water fleet.

i think,we should shut down this 5th gen fighter project and further su-30 upgradation..

There are lot of other markets..paise do aur kaam nikalo
I wouldn't go that far. I would say all this incident proves is the Russians only ever serve their own interests be this deal or back in 71 at the height of the Cold War when they made the Enterprise CBG back-off. I'd say India's only "true" freid was the Israelis who share a strong ideoligical bond with India and its people and are much more genuine than any other nation/ally.

Anyway wrt the 5th gen fighter- India shouln NOT abandon the project not only has it already invested BILLIONS in the project but there is NO other viable alternative for a 5th gen project. The PAK-FA/FGFA by all accounts will be the only 5th gen fighter from the current crop of projects that will be able to challenge the F-22s supremacy in the air-India can't afford to lose this capability. Additionally the FGFA/PAK-FA project is different to the Viky deal in size and scope and the Russians genuily need the Indians to get the project off the ground (no pun inteneded!) and there is expertise India is brining to the project. Simply India has no option but to stay the course with the 5th gen project- it is going to add significant expertise additionally to India's aero industery.

But India can definetly scale back everything else ie the MTA which is STILL yet to go anywhere.

But If I'm honest I'd say Indian military cheifs had already taken these steps of "cooling-off" purcahseing from Russia, I am struggling to think of a single major procurment ongoing that Russia is either a geuine contender for or will win-the MMRCA,LUH,Heavy attack helo, heavy lift helo,MRH,N-LUH,AWACS (Next gen) etc it has either lost, will lose or was never in contention because the egency didn't want Russia involved. In short the Russians have cut off their noses to spite their face- they have literally thrown away 10s upon 10s of BILLIONS in USD.

India being a large importer of weapons over the years has really matured as a buyer. We now only deal with Russians in the "zone of technological sanctions". Since no country could had offered nuclear sub + 5th gen fighters + tech to make nuclear sub, we always go to the Russians for help. For our transport fleet or weapon systems that involves themselves indirectly in any war effort, we go to the Americans & for advanced weaponry such as the MMRCA we are going to the Europeans. And when it come to Israelis - They act as an icing on a cake by helping us to upgrade the weapon systems we have already bought (by providing missiles, AWACS, Avionics, etc.). So it is a win-win for India as an importer is concerned.
