he was not called because the congress din't want the muslim voters to turn against them in the upcoming U.P elections , otherwise all the efforts done by rahul baba by sleeping in dalit houses would go in vain .

You guys miss the point. Salman Rushdie is a poor writer - probably second class. If he didn't write controversial stuff nobody would really give a hoot. He isn't and never was interested in coming to India - what he wants is cheap publicity for selling his books. He certainly got this as this morning he was on the front of most journals. The best response from India would have been to ignore the guy. Never have i ever met anyone liked his work for content - only his controversy gets headlines...

dude because it is election time these opportunistic fanatics want to get into some limelight and gather some support by opposing rushdie's visit to india , once the elections are over congress would forget them and people would give a damn to them .
i was watching opinion polls on t.v channels , they are saying maya has good chances of winning elections .
