I agree with you. The figure was, and is, an exaggeration. But the point is elsewhere; not even a single case should have happened.

If that was lied about then what else was also lied about? It seems there were huge fairy tales made up about the Pakistan Army. Hence anything the indians or bengalis say cannot be believed.

Not quite. The facts are simple. The moment the Bengali insurrection began in 1971 the game was over for Pakistan. Had PA had double the forces the result would have been the same. In fact had it been US Army the results would have been the same. Or the much vaunted IA in the same situation.

W..e..l..l.. yes and no. Defeat for the Pakistan Army, then, and at that point of time, was not inevitable. There were military breakthroughs against the Mukti Bahini in several sectors; not all the guerrilla commanders were equally effective, and there were questions of terrain and topography as well.

The game was up, truthfully speaking, when the people's resistance combined with the overwhelming conventional force assembled to support it, just as it was flagging and showing signs of fatigue.

In another sense, Rao Farman Ali had it right, and closer to your time line in your analysis: he thought it was over the moment Yahya refused to accept the election results, and refused to come down to negotiate with Mujib.

It was all over the papers, but that, given mutual accusations of 'fake news', are not likely to convince you. There are videos of the bodies being buried in the first instance, and some being taken back much later by representatives of the PA.

The issue that crops up is of Moral Courage.

So 50,000 Pakistani troops killed 3 million bengalis and raped 10 million bengali women in 1971? 26 years earlier it took the Nazi superpower 4 years to kill 4 million Jews using 700,000 elite Nazi soldiers. That too with the collaboration of millions of Nazis sympathizers across Europe. So 50,000 Pakistani troops did what 700,000 elite SS stormtroopers could not do in 4 years, in 6 weeks........

I would hardly call the blindfolded as unwilling participants. I have a member here advocating dispersion of Nuclear Devices on human beings by Pakistan as necessary means of survival. The said dispersion to be activated within Indian Cities.

The 1971 war was imposed on Pakistan by circumstances. You know India chose to attack Pakistan. PA knew this and launched a pre-emptive strike. The wave was coming anyway. I agree though that Kargil was a pet project of Musharaf and when it went wrong he dumped it on Nawaz.

When our soldiers faced the Indian horde these Muslim brothers of yours were fighting with Indians as 'Mukhti Bahini". As far as I am concerned we should not have even lost one of our boys in this dirty swamp.

But in this tragedy good came. It pierced the bloody heart of the Two Nation Theory and a rod up the a*ss of those who delude in the "Muslims of the Indian sub-continent" methane stink. And it left Pakistan as a nice contigous state on the Indus valley as Sir Allama Iqbal had enunciated.
