If greats like Ibn Sina, Ibn al-Haytham, Al-Biruni and Al-Khwarizmi were with us on PDF right now, they would be face-palming so hard right now. May Allah shower endless blessings upon these great thinkers. They were the kind of people who would never make excuses even if they had to face the most dire situations and here you are making excuses for people who had all the time and resources to reach greatness but chose not to. That is excuse, in general the economic system is capitalism. There were no state owned enterprises during that time. Current Indonesia where we have big SOEs who dominate the infrastructure development, defense, banking, oil and gas, telecommunication, etc is more Islamic then your beloved Kingdomship Kilafah if we see mixed economy as the standard.
